Best sub for about $350

I have second room setup with a Marantz nr1506 receiver with paradigm Atoms. I am looking for a sub For about $300 for music & movies. Any suggestions? Really just need some decent clean accurate bass not huge room shaking bass as this is in a condo & the neighbors might not appreciate it. Maybe I can't for $300 but I thought I would ask!

If you are near Atlanta I know an AVS member who might be selling one used as he bought an 18" sub to replace it!

If i absolutely only had $300.00 to spend. I would buy this one. Have not listen to one but looking at the data and frequency specs and knowing Emotiva, it should be a good sounding subwoofer in the $300.00 price range. In fact my Brother is looking at this one or the BASX 8 at $199.00 for his apartment.

If you can jump up to $399.00 then i would buy this one. I bought this one myself and it's a excellent performing subwoofer. 10" ported, very good output. accurate tight bass. Very good with movies & music. Impressive subwoofer at $399.00. Very good reviews thru audioholics and Sound & Vision. Check out the web site.

+1 for the SVS SB12-NSD if you can stretch your budget to 399.

I purchased one recently for my bedroom and it's an excellent sub for the price. It's also pretty small for a 12" sub at 14" square.

You're going to laugh but in my secondary listening area I have two of these and they are great.

Sure, they play just a bit below 30hz and that's it but one or two might be your solution...especially considering some of the other $300 suggestions don't play any lower.

Just go to Best Buy and pick one up for $90 and if not happy return it.

If you like it but want more just buy another.

I sealed mine with some open cell foam and it tightened up the bass and actually flattened out the frequency according to my testing with tones and an SPL meter.

Sure they don't play as loud as my main sub in my HT that digs down to 15hz but I didn't need that or want that in my secondary 2.2/3.2 system.

Don't need to impress everyone in secondary systems. I use Polk PSW125 and 15 year old 10" Velodyne DLS sub and they are just fine

$350?

An Alpine SWS 15" sub, iNuke 1000DSP and 1.5 sheets of plywood. Spotted the Alpine Dual 4 ohm voice coil version for $99.50 the other day. Build a 6.5 cubic foot box, port it for around 19Hz, bridge the iNuke for 400 real watts into the 8 ohm load, set the DSP to high pass around 17Hz and done. Total cost? About tree fitty--if it was me.

If you think you might want a second sub in the future, get the 4 ohm SWS 15 and use the iNuke3000DSP. 600 real watts per channel into 4 ohms, you can adjust the limiter down depending on Xmax calculations if you like but the amp will run you around $250 by itself. All depends...

Just an option--pick your rabbit hole!
