If PSA made 24s, @newc33 would have at least 8 of them. @newc33 , you should talk to Tom about that!

I'll bite and show my ignorance. Sealed enclosures need an amazing amount of excursion per octave drop per this:

http://www.audioholics.com/room-acou...the-decibel-db

So maybe a sealed sub would play this, but the dBs would be low, and the excursion would be insane?

Cool video BTW. Post one playing Rack City

Depends on just how low it goes ... if it's something crazy like 5hz most ported models won't be able to play them because of the natural rolloff bellow the port tune here's my graph showing my selaed subs are pretty flat past 5hz. You would need one hell of a ported sub to do this

Curtain shaker is basically a repeating sine wave of 10hz and then 14hz over and over again.

They are laughing at that! It's like a little tickle. If you weren't right on top of the cone, you wouldn't even be able to tell they are moving. Let them stretch their legs!

I will tomarrow! To late now. More or less just shows the headroom these beats have. Hardly any movement at refrence was pretty impressive.

I'm gonna start doing a bunch of videos so just stand by my friend

Just messing with you. I know you have LOTS of headroom. That's very impressive. Your room is not going to be happy with you when you open them up!

Cool video, but I don't understand the lack of excursion. The V3601 should play around 125 dB from 15-25 Hz (up 3 dB from the V3600) and the T18HT is "only" rated at 118.1 dB from 16-25 Hz. Add to that the sealed system and I really don't get it. Maybe it's playing way below 16 Hz, but even so, there should be lots of excursion. Maybe the volume was much higher in the V3601 video?

Dude there is way more to factor here than PSAs Web page output chart...

1) I have 4 t18s not 1
2)mine are pretty well dialed in using omnimic (I won't say they are perfect)
3) not only do I have 4 t18s but they are in a 1600 cubic foot sealed room on a suspended floor.
4)at 10hz in a small room I would expect the t18 to beat the v3601 in output no problem (I would have to very this to be sure). The v3601 will roll off way faster below its port tune (17hz???)
5) we still don't know what level the OP was playing at

He is not grasping the fact that you have 12 18" cones splitting the load...So they do not need near the excursion to play the same level as 2 larger excursion 18's even in a ported box.

I'd imagine it's partly because he has so much headroom, that there's simply not much excursion needed to meet a -6 playback level in his room with twelve 18" drivers; and the T18 driver is all about sensitivity and less about xmax. Also, he has quite a bit of room gain below 20Hz. The new 01' drivers were designed with a lot more excursion for added deep bass output, but they're an entirely different animal.

Hi all,

Not to be bunny buzzkill or anything BUT...

Be careful with these *songs*. As has been mentioned already they are often just random test tones at varying levels. You cook an amplifier or voice coil with something like this and it's going to be considered "abuse"(not covered under warranty) by most OEMs.

What's that smell? $12K of melted sadness...well probably a lot less to buy 12 new drivers but still not cheap. 😂
