Opinion on buying a Used SuperCube 6000

So I'm getting a pretty good deal on a SuperCube 6000 (400 CAD), but I'd like your opinions on it, as well as ways to make sure it isn't a fake (I'm going to his house to audition it first before I buy it).

My room is 25x20x8, and is open on one 25ft side to some other stuff (so its a fairly decent sized room), and many people have said the SC is underpowered and whatnot, but honestly, if this isn't fake, could I do better for 400?

Well, the extension will be nowhere near its spec as is normal for DefTec.

Sound and Vision tested the Supercube 4000 which is claimed to extend down to 16hz and found its -3db point to actually be 26hz so the 6000 will likely hit a reasonably good 24hz and might be a decent deal though hopefully you will sitting near it in your very large room.

Sound and Vision found that at least distortion was no a huge issue which is surprising for such a small sub.

What do you recommend I purchase instead? I don't mind buying a used subwoofer, but the budget is around 400 CAD (which isn't very high, but I'm quite poor right now).

In Canada you have very limited options and the Supercube should perform at least as well as an SVS SB1000 which is 700 Canadian.

Definitely audition it; better yet, have the owner bring it to your house or let you "borrow" it to test at your house.

Yes, if it's real, then I think it's a pretty decent deal. The IF is a big concern though. Is there any way I can check (sound tests, looking at it, etc...) to confirm that it in fact is real. The owner probably won't let me borrow it (I know I'd have a hard time trusting a stranger too), but perhaps I can convince him to let me return it if it doesn't work out too well.

Should be pretty easy to tell.

for 400 cad hmm throw a good bass track to it or some test tracks from spotify from your phone , considering the price on bestbuy.ca it sounds like a great deal
I would check it out for that price

Audyssey is a great start, but not always a great finish.
