Velodyne DD 10 Setup Screen Color Question

I just had my DD 10 amplifier repaired by George Meyer - fantastic service. They were great to work with on the phone and love audio. Very fast turn-around from Northern California; the unit was gone less than a week. It was very easy to remove the amplifier from the sub which saves a bundle on shipping. I highly recommend these guys. Morris was great.

What color is the TV setup screen supposed to be? My sub was out of service for several years (long story) and I don't recall what I should see. The manual shows a black screen with white letters, but I'm seeing a dark blue screen with black letters that is very hard to read (I tried to post a picture, but AVR Forum requires you to have five posts before you can post a pic!).

Unfortunately, my system frequency response isn't a pretty picture. Smooth ramp up to 32 Hz / 80 dB, then flat to 60 Hz, then a bit hole to 69 - 75 dB at 60-160 Hz. The living room is 15' x 25' x 8' and is very hard acoustically with no window treatments sheetrock and stone fireplace, and hardwood floors.

The equalizer settings are maxed and minned at:
63, 80, 100 Hz at +6 dB
32 Hz at -12 dB

Does anyone know of a place to get a HGS-12 amp repaired on the south eastern side of the country?

It seems as though Velodyne won't return my numerous phone calls or emails about repair.

I did sp ask with one of their authorized repair facilities nearest to me in Tampa but they said they can't get parts or schematics from Velodyne so they can't repair it.

Velodyne VA 810VII Driver

Hi, does anyone have a good suggestion for a replacement 8" speaker for my 20 year old Velodyne VA 810VII sub?

Hi all Velodyne experts.
My best friend from high school recently passed away.
He was a home theater enthusiast like myself.
He had a Velodyne DD18 with the cherry cabinet.
His son gave me the sub in trade for some computer work I helped him with.
So, now, I am in possession of a perfect working DD18 with FW 2.2.2
I have the remote and microphone too, and they both work perfectly.
The on-screen display works as well (blue background with white text)

I am wondering if I should sell it or keep it.
I already have a JTR Captivator S2 dual 18" sub

What would be a fair price for a perfect working Velodyne DD18 with working mic and remote?

It's a good sub, but is totally outclassed by modern ID subs. Your Captivator blows it away. It would be good in a secondary system, but it would totally destroyed by your S2. To someone who knows how it compares to modern subs, I'd say $500.
However, you can probably get at least $1000 for it, a lot of people don't know Velodyne isn't the big dog anymore. Someone sold one on ebay for $1500.

Denon AVR-4520CI
Emotiva XPA Gen3 3 channel
Klipsch RP 280f LR, 260f SR, RP-450c, RF-82 II SB, RB-61 II wide, RC-10 height
SVS SB12-NSD x4
OPPO UDP-203
TiVo Roamio, sometimes buzzy Samsung Plasma

While not cheap, George Meyer repaired my DD15 amp; replaced dozens of resistors and a capacitor the first time for $675 but it died within an hour so they paid for me to ship it back and they replaced the entire EQ section at no extra charge and it has been working great for a few months now; same blue background with white writing as always. They were very responsive and I also recommend them.

My EQ says 2006 V2.2.0
20=-11db
25=-10
32=-12
40=0
50=0
63=0
80=0
100=+1

I vary between an 80hz and 60hz crossover and now have the sub crossover defeated on the Velodyne menu as per the manual, (I ran with it not defeated for years as I only read the quick guide).

Even for movies I run Jazz mode; never even tried to other modes to be honest.

Thanks for the info.
My late friend paid dearly for this thing (>$4K)
I think I will keep it in memory of him.

Post your DD18 on Audiogon for $2000.00. Take lots of pictures and give a good description and it should sell. A DD10 just sold for $750 + $50 for shipping.

Great musical sub that digs deep with built in EQ.
