Ok I did some searching on budget systems and on $200 subs but I couldn't really find anything definitive.

My mother in law loves to watch movies its just about all she does in here single wide trailer she has a very out of date system that doesn't have much rumble to it and this year for Christmas she told my wife her daughter that she would like a subwoofer
I checked her receiver and it does have a sub out on the back so I guess we can get her one the room is 12x15 and I don't really want to spend more then $200.

I saw a MTX sub in a music magazine I have for $150 but I thought I would check here with the experts first and see if there is anything better out there for her.

I don't know how effective that Dayton sub is it all depends on the room size but for $200 lol good luck.... thats a pretty tight budget for a sub. I believe in the ideal of "quality over quantity" and if I'm going to buy something I'd rather spend the extra money on something that would actually be worth the $$$ instead of wasting it on something so mediocre there would be no enjoyment from it. Thats just a waste of money. I would suggest looking for a different type of gift for $200. There is so many neat things you could do with 200 bucks. You could buy 200 bucks worth of music or movies or combo of both I would love to get a present like that. Anyway good luck!

Buy her the Dayton that Manic mentioned and call it a day. She will be very happy with it and it will be less than your budget too.

For $100? Heck yeah!

Don't make the mistake of cranking it too high when installing it, though. The new sensation will take some getting used to for her. Push it too hard at first and she could just turn it off and never use it again.

No matter where you go. ... There you are.

Get the Dayton. Well reviewed on many forums and a bargain for $100. It has been tested by a few members and goes down to 25hz.

i bought the dayton for my parents today. i wouldn't buy it for myself only because my next speaker purchase needs to be an upgrade on the entry level package from atlantic technology. however, for what my parents have (cheepo radio shack speakers...they don't care to spend the money on better....yet) this should be fine.

thanks for the help in this thread
