While doing some calibration on my subs some questions came to mind. At what level do you calibrate. If I use 80-85db I would require ear plugs. Will the frequency responce remain the same after calibration at any given SPL. Example would be if I played pink noise at 40db would the responce be the same as 75db with the same pink noise. Just a couple of thoughts

As of Jan 2017, im still looking for (1) Outlaw M-200 mono amp, and a used Marantz 7010

I calibrated mine at 75dB.

If you want to use earplugs, go ahead. Your eyes are what matters for the initial calibration, though listening to some favorite tracks should always be done once you think you have it right.

I was about to start a thread related to your thread, but more generic -> "What can one really expect from bass EQ ?"

With my recent Velodyne DD-18, changing the volume of either my pre/pro or my sub, will alter the measured response, and sometimes significantly. I calibrate to around 85db as I am more prone to do critical-listening at a healthy volume.

Stick to a calibration reference level that you're most likely to be using (i.e. as loud as you can stand it :D )
I guarantee you that if you try calibratiing at different levels every time, your calibration will shift time and time again. It will drive you nuts!!!

Try and eliminate as many variables as you can and calibrate at the same level EVERY time.
Good luck.

Next projector will have LEDs, >=1080 res, >=10 bit color, >14bit CR, >9 bit ANSI CR, >=120Hz, >16ft.L on 12ft 2.35:1 screen, <$12bit price
