I most humbly agree. The only thing better is a Velo DD sub itself with the SMS built inside! :)

What more do you NEED to know?! A verrry close friend of mine is a beta tester...so is another well respected bass head on these forums. I've seen the unit, held the unit, know what it does, and guess what?!...it's killer! Like I said, what more do you need to know? :)

The only "criticism" my friend and I had (he and I are both DD owners) was that we were jealous that the DD subs THEMSELVES don't have that nice little SMS-1 display at the top...instead of that blinking blue "Velo" logo at the bottom. The SMS-1 WILL capture the market for sure. Good going Velodyne. :)

and if you can't afford the SMS-1, the ********** RDes unit is a decent unit...not nearly as integrated or user friendly (requires laptop, mic, graph paper etc), but will do pretty close to the same job...with a lot more time and effort.

In the case of multiple subs in one room in my case 3, would you EQ all of them together or one at a time with the SMS-1

Bruce,

What's the low freq limit of the SMS-1? I need 10 Hz.

I tried to find spec's on yopur web site, but the only SMS-1 info I found was a link to the CES press release.

Thanks

No. I want to be able to measure/EQ down that low.

I've got a pair of Avalanche 18's I'll be putting in a 30 c.f. ported box tuned to 10 Hz.

Hopefully w/room gain I'll be cutting and not boosting.

Well done Velodyne, I look forward to getting mine.
No doubt this unit will be a very hard act to follow, just as the BFD is down in the lower $$ price range.

I own a DD18 now and definitely want to be part of a group buy on the SMS-1 as soon as it's available. Is there any idea who will be the single point of contact for this?

Doesn't the SMS-1 do externally what the circuitry in the DD18 does internally??

I was hoping someone at CEDIA would post a photo of the SMS-1. I have never seen one and sure would like to. I assume Velodyne is exhibiting it at CEDIA. :)

Yes Jim both products provide the same functionality. I should have also stated that the SMS-1 and DD-18 would be used in separate systems in different rooms in my home.

I'd like to know what the MSRP will be as well. If memory serves I think Bruce said shipping will begin in October. If that's correct, one would think the suggested retail would be available by now. Perhaps when CEDIA wraps up...

Numerous times on this thread and the big Velodyne thread the list price has been confirmed to be $699. Sure would like to see one and cannot believe there are none at CEDIA this weekend. Pictures anyone? :)

Numerous times... bla, bla, bla... it has been speculation. Even Audioholics says "Factor in a street price of around $650-700...". I am not trying to be rude to anyone, but let's have something official posted... this is not the first time we've been referred back to speculation.

I do not consider posts from Bruce Hall speculation. I do consider statements from Audioholics as such. The price is $699 as you should have known if you checked Bruce's posts.
