I dont know about "house crumbling" but "Mulholland Drive" has some pretty serious low bass.

There are a few times when its not heard so much as pretty violently felt.

Sin City has some great bass. Nothing stupendous that I can remember. Even the dialog has a ton of bass in it.

One of the character's voices has a lot of bass. Nothing stupendous means nothing that made me poop my pants from sudden shock.

Sin City: good thumps during fight scenes. nothing too attention grabbing. worth a rental if ultraviolent faux comic style isnt your cup of coffee. Definitely Buy it, if you liked Kill Bill.

highlights include:
Jessica Alba dancing
Frodo doing an impression of Gollum and Blade.
Devon Aoki

I just watched "The Hulk, Special Edition" and Holy Cow! LFE, LFE & *more* LFE! Every time Hulk takes a breath or a step there's a rumble - and there are more explosions and impacts than dialog! My teenage son kept coming in the room and saying "Dad, I think you have the sub turned up too much". Yeah, riiiiigggghhhhtttt...

If you think this post was dumb, you really should read my blog=> http://bumpedhishead.blogspot.com/

I dont know if anyone mentioned Constantine yet, but it blew me away. I cant remember the exact scene, but something scared the crap out of me with the bass...and I only have a Paradigm PS1000 and one aura bass shaker hooked up underneath my seating area. But I thought the reason the bass scared me so much was that it happened "all of the sudden" like and I wasnt expecting it. So I rewound it back, and told my wife I just wanted to see what it would be like if I knew it was going to happen...and it still scared the crap out of me. And only after the 6th or 7th rewind was I prepared for it mostly...

So far I have... I need to snag copies of U-571,
As far as Sky Captain goes, all I can say is this movie will put a smile on the face of anyone with a decent sub.

I think its sad that because of this forum people will be supporting bad movies like U571.

I dont like the movie that much either, but once you have heard the volume and depth of bass in the DTS version (chapter 10 & 17 and others) with a decent sub, you will not regret buying this movie.
I have not heard any dvd more house crumbling than this yet, and i watch, and own quite a few movies.
Ed Mullens summed it up the Haunting DTS DVD in a review of an SVS sub when he said:

) The Haunting (DTS) (main volume set at -20 dB):

We saved the best for last. We have over 100 DVDs in our collection, including all the popular LFE bass busters - but the DTS version of The Haunting is STILL the absolute, undisputed, KING of ultra low end, super pumped up LFE. Whoever mastered the DTS version of this DVD must have been on drugs because it is INSANE with bass. This DVD will blow your mind at near reference levels with this SVS sub. The combination of low, LOW bass and the sheer SPL this DVD generates will scare you - literally SCARE YOU. We kept waiting for the sub to start showing signs of distress - IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. It just kept effortlessly belting out wave after wave of PURE VISCERAL MIND BLOWING NEAR SUBSONIC BASS. Stuff rattled off my shelves - upstairs, and picture frames through the entire house were off kilter. We recorded bass peaks of approximately 111 dB (!!) at the listening position. KILLER - TOTALLY KILLER.

I couldnt agree more.
Sorry mods, i cant post url's yet

Raezzy,

What subby have you got? I saw Downfall last night. Incredibly powerful and absorbing movie about the last few days of Nazi Germany's downfall. Great sound effects (DTS 6.1 EX) where distant explosions were very realistic. I had just ordered a 20-39 PC Plus so I can't wait to trial some of the movies which were recommended here.

Gday lyndonlim

Downfall sounds interesting - will have to check that one out. Thanks...

I've only got a crappy Aaron Sub, but did borrow an M&K MX5000 from a friend of mine for quite a long while, which is where i got the opportunity to test lots of dvd's including The Haunting DTS which absolutely blew me away.

I think all of the movies listed here, will be good on your SVS.

Let me know how the 20-39 PC Plus is, if you can tear yourself away from it long enough to reply
I am also thinking seriously about an SVS

Just watched "The Ring Two" tonight on my setup. Lots of sudden, startling LFE and if you have bass shakers or a powerful sub you will jump a few times.

This makes me sad because I didn't even like the original black and white Haunting I was told was a great film. Now I will be watching this one because how can I pass on such a description? At least I always like Lily Tyler.

Probably the scene near the beginning where the guy finds the spear of destiny and walks out and gets hit by the car. Man, that came out of nowhere.. silence, then BAM!

The Jacket is another great movie for sound - it goes from quiet to loud to quiet again all the time, really takes you by surprise the first time

Mr & Mrs Smith is no slacker either. Pitt and Jolie has very good chemistry on screen, but the best parts are the multiple gun fights. With a blatant homage to John Woo. They actually filmed just outside my old neighborhood at an old Ikea lot next to the 60 freeway in the City of Industry.
