WOTW was decent when neither one of his kids were in the shot. They are what really drag the movie down.

For once it wasn't TC.

I liked WotW well enough, too. I saw it in a theater as well as on DVD. As others have said, it wasn't a classic, but it was entertaining.

I could tolerate the daughter, but couldn't abide the son. I didn't like the ending to begin with, but it became even worse for me upon "discovering" that the son wasn't dead after all.

Watched "Shaun of the Dead" today and was pretty surprised at the bass, not just volume but they also use it in some places where you wouldn't expect any.

I don't recall seeing it here yet, but "Phantom of the Opera (2004)" has quite a few good bass scenes in it. The best is the beginning of Chapter 2 where the chandelier is uncovered at the auction with a good punch then pipe organs follow. Also, the low rumbling before each appearance of the Phantom is a pretty good sub workout. The movie is quite impressive with a decent sound system, particularly the vocals.

Jurassic Park has been mentioned before, but not lately. Just watched the dts version for the first time since I got my Buttkicker, which lived up to its name. It woke the SVS. Good surround mix, too.

I could sit through WOW. I have only done so once, and rewatched/relistened/reFELT ch4 and ch5 about a dozen times though.

I am glad to see others thought the spidey movies sucked also. I could make it through the first one for the most part, but man did some of the CGI suck out loud in that. Especially the scene when is running on top of the buildings leaping from one to the next. I felt like I was watching a super mario bothers clip--just terrible. Then all I ever heard about the movie was how well done the special effects were---crap if you ask me. The second one was way worse from a movie standpoint. I was given it for a christmas present at our gift exchange at work--I asked for Kill Bill I or Kill Bill II or a Gift card to Home Depot and that is what I got--a crappy movie I had no interest in seeing in the first place and on top of that it was a damn full screen chopped up version--aweful. Needless to say that got traded in.

I have never seen ATOR, but I did suffer through "The Brown Bunny" at a theater. If anyone has insomnia--this will cure it. Unbelievable. 2 1/2 hours of looking out the windshield of a van through a crappy hanicam and a 2 minute BJ scene. Snorefest. I can't beleive it was made.

Shaun of the Dead is a funny movie, I haven't seen it on my "system" so I can't comment on the bass, but I bet there is a bunch with all the beatings, gunshots etc that take place.

Above all, enjoy the sound.
You gotta love the internet.

I really want to watch final destination 3, as a buddy of mine has been raving about it for a few weeks now. I really liked the first two--despite a few holes and leaps in the story and some decent acting at best. But overall, I greatly enjoyed the movies. I was thrilled when I first saw the preview for the third one over a year ago, but immediately knew watching it was going to be tough. My girlfriend and I have gotten into roller coasters over the last 2 years and there is no way I want her to watch this movie. I am afraid she will never go on one with me again. It is bad enough to get her on the likes of Top thrill Dragster and Son of Beast, not to mention some of the half rotten older woodies or partly rusted older steel coasters. I just told her about the accident that took place a few months ago on Son of Beast last week and she about freaked. I really want to see it, but am going to have to do so without her. The wrecked scene on final destination 2 is one of my favorite scenes of any movie.

Above all, enjoy the sound.

Plan 9 From outer space.

Great film.

Seriously, what's going on with this thread! I'll bet if I make a thread for subwoofer movies that DO suck, everyone will recommend great films.

Final Destination?
Shaun of the Dead?

come on!

Again, not everyone thinks (insert-name-of-film-you-hate-here) is bad. Every film has at least a few fans. Because of that, the thread's title premise was doomed from the start.

Even Ed Woods' "classic" got nearly 1600 tens (16%) at IMDb. Of course, that's probably because there are so many of us who enjoy laughing at it.

Even so, I think this tread has come up with enough good, serious suggestions to make it worthwhile.

I agree...just from subscribing from this thread 3 weeks ago has me searching and buying titles like crazy. Just last Friday alone, I came home with 10 dvds...only got through 3 of them over the weekend though There are some movies here that I know I won't like, but if I'm on the fence with a title and I see a "It's OK"...I figure I might as well give it a try, and run off to the closest video store.

Plus, without this thread, I might actually have to start doing some real work here at work.

BTW, Hollywood Video is having a pretty good deal on their Used DVDs:
Buy 5 for $20 (all their 7.99 dvds)
Buy 3 for $25 (all their 9.99 dvds)

There was nothing, bass wise, in FD3 like in FD2. The story is the same. I liked 2 much better.

Lousy acting (pretty pathetic when a little 11 year old girl upstages the entire cast ), moronic dialogue/script, ugh I could barely sit through it. Suddenly made me wish I had some good leaf even though I haven't lit up in years and years.

So, am looking for suggestions of subwoofer-intensive flicks that have more than a half dozen brain cells to them.

The last good LFE flick I saw was "Master and Commander," "Lord of the Rings," "The Incredibles" and "Hero." Surely there must be more?

The movie was great!...You are a moron.

Just got done watching Silent Hill. Movie was disturbing (WAY FRICKIN COOL) but the horror special effects were artistically done. The movie had loads of bass throughout and many scenes with surround effects also. If you like horror flicks with great sound check it out!

Just saw "The Matador" last night. The movie was ok...but the BASS was great! The scene where the car explodes and the following scene with the thunderstorm shook the house. Never felt the house shake like that before...that will definitely be the demo I'll be using to show off my HT.

Those early scenes were both definitely in the "surprises that make you jump" category!

kweezr - Any chance we can get those added to the waterfall thread?
