If you "get" Australian movies, then I'd recommend "Chopper", the story of Mark Read.

I also really enjoyed Shottas, lots of bass it that one, but you'll need the subtitles .

I've just revisited "What Lies Beneath" the lows are mostly covered from the three-screen and surround channels with very little from the LFE.1.

It's not always about LFE.1 in fact the specification of Dolby and dts is 10Hz 20KHz in most cases sometimes. In the case with "What Lies Beneath" it was solid all around the sub bass extension with jolts of low end as Norman, tires to bump of the Miss!

One scene where Norman, has placed his wife in the bathtub and then notices is the necklace and tries to remove with one almighty JOLT! That kicks in all three-screen surrounds and LFE.1 within a few milliseconds of each other wow.

It ends with a LFE.1 just after Norman, bangs his head on the sink with a low rhythmic chord, very nice indeed and this is what you get when you mess with the wife.

Down to 25Hz with some aggressive jolt so watch those levels when playing it at 0db THX reference level.

100% agree.

That first major blast when they blow up the building seriously made me jump. I expected a BOOM........but got a BOOM from my PB-12NSD.

Needless to say I had a smile on my face from the sheer joy of just how good the impact was with my system I can only imagine what 2 of these subs would sound like.....or for that matter 2 of ANY sub!

It may not be the most mainstream movie, but the first laserdisc i heard with my Def Tech sub was The Ghost And The Darkness. When the lion first roared, the sub made it seem like it was in the room with me!

I can't get over how much extreme bass Beerfest has. Definitely more than one would normally expect in a comedy, and more impressive than that in many action movies, oddly enough.

You should check out Hot Fuzz in that case. It's very strange that the mix is as bass-heavy as it is. Beerfest isn't even close in comparison.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but I'll add:

Hot Fuzz has literally ridiculous LFE. Ridiculous in a funny way.

Car doors slamming sound like bombs going off... And bombs, well they are ridiculous in a whole other way. It's like the title should have been, "Fun with LFE".

... Oh, and there's English cop type stuff going on in the meantime.

These are great movies with strong LFE content that I own and that were all released after the thread's last post in 2007 (I can't be arsed to read 70 pages of this):

Rec 2
Hot Fuzz
How to Train Your Dragon
Inception
Iron Man
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Star Trek (2009)
Super 8

Really Good and More Bass Than Expected:

Black Swan
Up (Disney/Pixar)
Drive
Pan's Labyrinth
District 9

Maybe Not Everybody's Cup O' Tea But Bass To Die For:

Cloverfield
Xmen First Class
The Incredible Hulk
The Pacific (HBO series)

My votes go to:

- Max Payne: The office shooting scene is still my reference
- Cloverfield: Will make you sweat!
- The Dark Knight: Classic and very "Batmanish" sheering bass
- This Is It: Good rocking music
- Inception: Can destroy most subs out there
- Live Free or Die Hard: Amaze me every time
- Any Transformers: Sub candy, except that the last 2 sucked....
- WOTW: Speilberg grade bass
- Battle LA: "Realistic" combat bass

The list could go on...

Saw this movie awhile back and did not expect a bass heavy night but this movie has some of the most intense bass I ever had in theater room. This has to be on everyone's top 10 list of big bass movies. MASSIVE, MASSIVE DEEP BASS !!!!!

Which scenes??

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

I've read so much about this scene, but when I finally got to see it on blu ray it was underwhelming (kinda like the M&C blu ray) and not in the league of real sub-busters like WOTW, Cloverfield, TIH, FOTP.
