I saw that PB12 in the outlet and wished it had been there when I went for the SB12-NSD, except I'm growing to really like this sealed sub, as does my new roommate, for both quality and lack of shared boom. Hope you enjoy your PB12!

I finally figured out after a long time, that my sub problem or AVR problem was a bad cable problem. So my PB-1000 is rocking again. It reminded me of how much I love this sub.

I'm going to look at buying a used cylinder, and the seller is willing to demo it for me before purchase. Is there anything in particular I should listen for or visually inspect in order to ensure it is okay? Any common problems I can check for?

Also, it is an older model PC13 with the analog amp, is there a significant difference in performance or anything else I should be worried about with it?

That is great when you can figure out yourself, cable is easy swap and sub is rocking again, good for you!!!

I have a big question maybe you all can help me on this one.Does subwoofer cables matter.I mean the last subwoofer cable i owned was a monoprice 4 buck subwoofer cable and it did the job to me.I mean is monster a good brand to use for subwoofer cables what are your thought's and price mark you would buy for a subwoofer cable .I see all these people talking that subwoofer cables matter and speaker wire is key to getting best sound but i feel it's BS.as long as it's no bad copper cable then i feel your good. But really can anyone tell me what brand of subwoofer able works nice with svs sub's.Mainly for a SVS PB13-ULTRA.

No need to spend a lot of money on a sub cable or speaker wire. About $10 will get you a good sub cable. Monoprice, Belkin and Mediabridges are popular brands.

I agree with Bond and a cheap 10 dollar cable will be fine. I myself like to spend an extra 20 dollars and get the SVS interconnect. Nice cable with nylon wrap and don't forget the cool SVS logo on the outer ring. I mean really if your gonna spend 2 grand on a sub why not put a 30 dollar cable to go with it.

I also like more better looking wires I know it is waisting but I like to pay little more (not a lot) for better looking cable. Some people have all wires hidden so then doesn't matter that much but let say if you have nice hardwood floor, expensive SVS sub and you need to see cable why not a good looking one like SVS had.

I was on the website for svs and i took a look at there subwoofer wire's.There measurements are in milimeter's.Like 2 mm or 3 mm or bigger. If my mind is right i think 2 mm is about 10 feet idk i forgot. But i dont need to long of a subwoofer wire .so that's a good thing.

^^ Lengths are given in meters. 1 meter = about 3 ft.-3 in.

You should also check out Blue Jeans Cable for a subwoofer cable. They are an advertiser on AVS and they make the cables right here in the US!! I do not have any of their sub cables but I do have speaker wire from them and I can say it is very good quality at a very reasonable price.

I don't know why they have it in Meters. It is great for Europien guy like me but I understand it can be confusing for others. I still counting after 13 years in US when I measure something in Meters and milimeters I'm just use to it, we don't have feet's in Europe. I'm now ok to do it in feet'ss also becouse of my worrk so I use it a lot but before I had no idea how long was 8 feet for example.

My engineering schooling pretty much conditioned me to use the metric system. And we do some overseas stuff.

Don't get me started on Canadians. The 6 foot tall man walked 2 kilometers to work

Just took delivery on a new SB13-Ultra to replace my 3 yr. old SB12-NSD that really couldn't deal too well with a 3600 cu. ft. room. Running a burn in prior to doing a full calibration, but already wow. What a difference.

Thanks. Don't think two are in the picture tho'. It's our open plan living room/dining room and I've already filled all the spots I'm allowed to use for black boxes. Besides even with the SB12 I had to go around once a week to straighten pictures up.

Dwarf Artillery

Track five of Steven Wilson's second Bass Communion release, sensibly titled "Bass Communion II" is the seven minute and fourteen second "Dwarf Artillery".

My home theater is 11' wide, 20' deep and 8' high (1,760'³) with one 7'×6'8" and one 5'×6'8" opening onto the rest of the ground [aka. first] floor of my house. There is a single PC12-NSD.

When these dwarfs open fire, the whole room vibrates. The floor vibrates. The sofa vibrates. All four walls vibrate. I vibrate.

I mention this not just to share the joy of SVS bass and certainly not to sound like one of those fools who think that they have enough subwoofer(s), but to let anyone who made it this far in life without discovering all of Mr. Wilson's many projects that his atmospheric/soundscape/ambient/industrial/drone/(other list of loosely fitting (sub)genres) recordings are both fascinating and a superb way to enjoy your sub(s).

Greetings SVS owners,

I've owned a decent Aperion system the last few years and then my sub (10d) died on me.

I'm wondering if uou guys could help me finalize a decision on a sub...

I've spent all day and night so far researching and have come rest at the SVS PB-1000.

I read this link and some of Jim Wilson's reviews as well.

http://www.audioholics.com/how-to-sh...woofer-roundup

Anything hit the markets recently I should know about? Or am I good with this choice.

Room is 16x20x8

That's a big room, I'd go for PB2000

Krell Evolution 900e x 7

Bose Jewel speakers.

Jealous of my speakers?

The room is kind of sectioned off a bit which is why I got 20. The rear part of the living room opens up for about 6 ft and goes back 5. So the room can also be 16x15x8. Would I be OK though with it? I won't achieve reference level I know that.

**Forgot to mention strictly 500 dollars is all I can muster for this upgrade.

I wouldn't go with anything less than the PB-2000 for that size room. The wait will be worth it.

My room is similar sized. I got the pb-1000 recently, it's a good little sub, a lot better then my Velodyne cht 10q it replaced but it doesn't quite have the impact I was looking for. At times it's close but often I feel it falls a bit short so I'm now looking at either the pb-2000 or psa xs15se. The pb-2000 is rather large so I'm leaning more towards the xs15se as it's sealed cabinet is only an inch or so bigger then the pb-1000.

Save up the extra $300 and go for the PB2000.

3 mm is about 1/8 inch.(3mm)/(25.4mm/inch) = .118 inches, which is close to .125 or 1/8th.
