I would recommend looking in the SVS outlet, you could save yourself a few hundred on a subwoofer with a minor blemish.

http://www.svsound.com/specials/outl...ra-outlet-1_17

Here is one with a blemish on the back and minor crack on the bottom. Those are areas of the subwoofer you will not see, so the rest of the subwoofer will look like new. Outlet models are all tested for performance and come with same warranty as new.

Another subwoofer you might want to look at would be the FV15HP in gloss black, similar performance to the PB13U with a lower price.

I would order from the outlet that svs has.But i live in new york state so the will charge me tax no matter what.its i 170 bucks just in state taxes. So what svs told me to do is order from unequal and svs will forfeit my oder in there location.because right now onecall is having problems with getting b13 ultras over there beachse of the port stricks over in the west.

That makes sense, yeah the port strikes are affecting various industries.

There is really nothing that can beat the FV15HP from an ID company until you spend MEGA bucks.

The ports are moving again. It took me 2 months to get my speakers from Jon Lane (Chane Arx) but they arrived a week ago. Still waiting on Rythmik but things are moving there as well, so I would assume other companies will be restocking soon.

That'll knock the FV15HP down a few pegs, and for less money.

You got me there, but the direct servo tech does mean a bit more money. Still Brian does a good job I think of keeping prices reasonable.

Oh Brian does. Look how long it took someone to bring the fight to him in his price bracket. Jeremy shook up the ID market with his offerings, starting with a dual 12 with 200watts and now being mentioned alongside companies like JTR. Right now he is top of the bang for buck food chain.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Brian come out with something new to compete.

They are excellent and fill my space nicely. I listen to a lot music and find they do a stellar job with music and are simply outstanding with movies. I tried a few SVS combinations before I arrived at the PB 2K paring. I do not envision any change for a while on the sub front. I wanted to spread my wings and step up to RF 7's with 64 center and move the RF82's as sides this year in addition to a new Denon amp to power it all - perhaps next year. I have a lot coin going into the house this year so the path to audio nirvana will have to wait a bit longer.
gene4ht and januza like this.

Denon: AVR X1000
Klipsch: RF-82 II / RF-62 II / RC-62 II / RB-61 II
SVS: PB-2000 x 2

Like PWH1, I am extremely satisfied with my PB-2000's in my 4800 cf space. In fact, I auditioned the PB-13 Ultra recently and preferred the dual PB-2000's over the single PB-13U simply for all the benefits that duals offer. I have two rows of theater seating and need the FR improvement. No question the PB-13U exhibited a bit more low bass output, but the PB-2000 performs very respectfully here too. Unless you're constantly pounding at reference in a very large space, the PB-2000 keeps up very well. There's a good reason why many SVS products are viewed highly.

Panasonic: PT-AE3000 Front Projector
Elite: 115" Fixed Frame CinemaScope (2.35:1)
Onkyo: TX-NR809, TX-NR636
Klipsch: RF-82 II, RC-62 II, RS-52 II, RB-51 II, RB-41 II
SVS: PB-2000 x 2
Panasonic: DMP-BD85

I'm contemplating the exact same upgrade path but did the home improvements last year...so the 7's and 64's are on the near horizon. Anyway, OT here so see you in the other thread.

HI Guys,

I am thinking about ordering either (2) PB-2000 or a single PB12-Plus. I had some questions about finishes. Does the vinyl finish on the PB-2000 look similar to real wood from a distance? is is cheap looking?

Also for the PB12-Plus does anyone have any issues with reflections on the piano finish? I am worried about distracting reflections during movies with the lights out and wonder if I go that route maybe ordering the wood might be best.

I had the same concern with the piano finish and the guy at SVS said it would be an issue for sure - I went with the wood finished and glad I did for placement under the screen.

I was going to get a piano finish for my ultra. But my mind has changed and the only reason i changed my mind was because well for a few reasons one is my klipsch setup is not piano finish. It's black oak.same as the ultra black oak finish.also i have 3 dogs and i don't want then to mess anything up and so yeah dog hair in some times a problem. And one other big big thing i hated is that the piano black is OVER SHINE.If you ask me it looks cool yes but idk not a big fan of that finish. To me it feel's out of place. That being said if you have other speakers that have that finish then yeah go with that finish to match it.But me i will stick to the black oak.And as far as does th oak look fake .Not at all it had one hell of a build. The cabinet of the plus is 2 inch in thickness same for the ultra.

I have NHT gloss black speakers. I would not have gloss black for front speakers (L/C/R/Sub) as they will reflect light. I use bias lighting as well behind the screen these are 3 multi coloured lights so reflections from them would be pretty awful.

I went for the black ash SBU13. It may not look as posh as the black gloss, but it's more practical.

I had the same reasoning - I don't want my speakers lit up like Christmas next to the screen I'm trying to watch. Talk about distracting.

The finish on the PB-2000 looks like a wood veneer...not cheap looking at all...even close up.

It does not look cheap at all! For what it is it does look very nice. I'm still pretty impressed with my PB-2000. If a box bigger than what my PB came in had shown up at my door I think my wife would kick my ass.

I have to share this with you. The SVS PC13 ultra is a beast! I've had it for a while but recently watched Interstellar which has the heaviest base I've ever experienced! The entrance door actually popped open 3 times over 2 viewings! The door doesn't latch shut as good as it should but no other movie ever did that. How cool is it to say your subwoofer can open doors!!!!

I caved!

Pulled the trigger on the PB12-Plus today in oak. I made some mock ups of the 2 subs last night out of cardboard. The 12Plus is a tad on the large side as far as the depth is concerned and is going to stick out about 6" past my cabinet, where the PB2000 would have been just about flush. But I have a very large room open to the rest of my house and was concerned going with the 2000's would leave me no path to upgrade. At least with the PB12-Plus I can always add a seconds one if i need it (provided I can afford it)

I had the PC-2000's and i have the PB12+ the plus is a way better sub you made a very good move by getting the +. My room is about 4800 sq ft and one + is all you would need. The + is very clean and accurate sounding sub with music and movies. The PB2000's never had the quality of bass that the + had which is why i returned them. Trust me you will be very happy and not to mention you have the variable tuning option to customize the sound for your room and also the peq's to take out some of the peaks in your room. Also i have the black oak finish it looks really nice they did a very nice job with this finish.Congrats i know you will love it!!!!!!

Hi SVS people. I'm sub shopping and am considering a PB-2000. Does SVS ever have sales, or are they always the same price? I see they have an outlet for "scratch and dent" type stuff, but dont see anything there.

Hello, no sales only sometimes on discontinued models , outlet have Discount on returned or scratched subs. If PB-2000 is not there wait for while it will be there soon, just keep eye on it or call SVS sometimes they don't have all outlet subs on web for sale. No worries with outlet one if is not what you expect you can returned as well as new one.

Like Retro said, keep an eye on the specials. I got my PB-2000 for $729 from the outlet.

Has anyone one here went from a pc12nds to a pb2000 or pc2000 ? Im asking because last year I purchased a pb1000 which was a big upgrade over my Athena micra htib but I guess my expectations were higher than the performance and I returned. Then late last year I purchased a pc12nds on closeout thinking this would give me the little extra punch and lower extension i was looking for but after numerous tweaks and countless moving the sub around it still doesn't deliver the low frequency extension that the pb1000 produced. For reference the pb1000 would shake my couch on the u571 dept charge scene and the pc12nds lightly vibrates the couch.

I'm thinking I might need to get duel pb1000 for smoother response or a pc2000/pb2000 but Im a little hesitant on the 2000 not delivering a significant upgrade over the 1000.

My listening habits are 99% movies.

Thanks
