Hello evryone, I'm new here, My name is Joseph...

Well this is my current set up, Def TEch, SM450 fronts, Clr2002 Center and bp2x rears, my room is about 13X24 and pioneer vsx1016

I wanted to get a sub and i was gonna get the Hsu Vtf1 or the STF2
for about $425 Shipped, I was shopping around for other subs and ended up getting two Bic H100 for $380 shipped, did i make the right choice?

I thought 2 may be better than one, but i'm not so sure anymore?

thanks

HI Joseph. I`m deciding to upgrade from my old pioneer $200. system and during the last 2 weeks have been reading reviews etc. I just read some reviews about those Bic H100 subs . The reviews were quite impressive . 2 days ago I bought the BIC V1520 15" 275 Watt Powered Subwoofer instead of a couple of H100`s . I hope someone with knowledge and experience answers your question. I will be watching . Good fortune.

I would cancel that order and go with the 2x H-100. The other BIC subs are not on the same playing field as the Acoustech H-100.

I got one through ebay new Bid $195 and won, bic h-100 Total shipped was $224
I also got another Bic H100 that was returned because the fuse was not installed, so i bought in new condition (but was once returned) for $163 shiped

ther is one for sale now on ebay Bid is $128

Guess im just second guessing my self, maybe i shoud have bought the HSU or a SVS Sub, But on the other hand I did get two decent subs for under $400....

I am in the same quandry as most. "wanting the best bang for the buck"

If this H-100 is 90% as good as say the STF-2 it appears to be a steal. Thinking seriously about it.

I think two H-100's for under $400 is something you can be happy with no matter how you look at it. Hook them up and see if you are happy (you probably will be).

How do they sound, are they tight and sneak up on you? or uncontrolled and muddy?

An audiophile likes to talk about how much they spent and how good it sounds.

A DIY'er likes to talk about how little they spent and how good it sounds.

I did end up getting the H-100 the first of Feb. I very impressed with it. Driving it with a new Panny XR57 and on most movies the sub is running at about 10 oclock and the bass is great. I watched some of Master and Commander. Great movie to demo a system

Not looking for 2 subs... but totally stuck on either buying the Bic H-100 for 240ish shipped, or putting the HSU STF2 on my credit card... for 380 shipped....

Is the STF2 150 dollars better... would I notice a difference not really being an audiophile?

If the Bic is even 80% as good as the hsu?

bleh, so confused.

If those of you that are wondering about the H-100 can hold off for a few more days, Craigsub is doing a review on it here http://www.av123forum.com/showthread...=15586&page=30 AND http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...highlight=H100

I believe this will be the first "real" review of this sub that I have found surprisingly. I've had mine for 6 months and have had two friends buy them after hearing it. For $220.00 shipped, hell $300.00 shipped is hard to beat.

I have heard the VTF2 and IMHO for the money the H-100 *cannot* be beat. I, like you, am not an audiophile. The way I look at it this is only going to be a temporary HT until my kids leave the nest in a few years. A couple of big VTF-3 MK 2s would be a great upgrade. Of course by then there will be something else.

I had a hsu VTF 1 for about 3 weeks and the sub kept bottoming out on me. So I send it back and got my refund. Then I decided to order a bic h100. Let me tell you this sub is amazing for the money. I liked it so much I order another one. Now my theater room rocks with these two babys. I have pushed my two h-100s hard with movies and have never heard any distortion or have bottomed them out.

I've had my H-100 for nearly a year now and I can easily say it is worth every penny. This sub would be enough for 90% of HT shoppers and is ideal for music listeners. Besides that, it's one of the prettiest subs I have seen and my wife even likes it. That's important when you need to place it in your main living area.
On a side note, I also have a 1000wrms 15" in a 12 ft^3 tube that fullfills my needs in the theater room. Even with this monster shaking my internal organs on a daily basis, I continue to be impressed by the Bic in the living room. It compliments the inhouse stereo perfectly. I often find myself thinking, "I can't believe this thing was only $230!"
FYI- the H100 blows away the old Bose acoustacrap I had before. Can't believe I wasted money on that thing.

Stupid question but i've been wondering it; how does one go about hooking up 2 subwoofers? I own a Denon AVR-887 and only see 1 subwoofer cable port, so i'm a tad lost here

A "Y" RCA cable to split the signal, that's it. Cost a few bucks.

Thanks, that's what i figured. Wasn't sure if it'd screw up the signal or whatever but should have known better since the only thing that you could possibly need is power from the receiver and good subs have built in amps .

Dumb question, but with 2 H-100 subs, aren't you still missing below 28 Hz frequencies? Wouldn't it be better to get something like a single SVS PB10?

I'll cast another vote for the H-100. I've had one for about 3 months and have ZERO complaints. Super sub.

Actually, surprised no response to this. How would 2 H-100 stack up to a PB10? As Dawg90 asked, what happens below 28 Hz? From what I read, some things will be missing from certain movies. You will hear it with the PB10 and not the H-100? Is this true. How much is being given up? Thanks.

PB10 will go way deeper than the H-100s. 18hz or so. You're missing quite a bit of material. Now in a larger room, the 2 H-100s would fill it better, but LF wise, PB-10 would be a better option.

thanks Spezzy. I am just surprised that the H-100 gets a lot of praise for HT use, i.e. that the H-100 owners are not bothered by what they are missing.
