The SVS is in house! The Rosenut is a bit more reddish than I thought it to be, but I´ll manage, it looks excellent. Also being a B-Stock, it looks to be in mint condition...
And to the part your all waiting anxiously for - the sound:
- I started of with some countrytracks featuring Josh Turner to start off with. I sat the crossover to ca 60 hz, and bypass on room correction. In my ears it blends very well with my mains at those settings, but they will probably be changed later on. The music really got a lot more fun to listen to, the SB12+ really digs deep and my setup grew to twice it`s size in sound. Amazingly clean and defined bass lines.
- Next I put the "standard" Pearl Harbor DVD in my player and skipped to the Japanese attack right away. Well, going to the cinema woun`t be the same anymore. It really gives HT-feeling, and in my small room it almost scared me. And the gain is set on 10 o`clock and the driver has no visible excursion. Insane.
- Well, Pearl Harbor is boring, so next up was a live DVD, one of my favourites. Sarah McLachlan - Afterglow Live. On "Perfect Girl" (which features good bass) it blended well with my Focals, and I had to turn the gain down to around 9 o`clock and that was enough to give me the bass I wanted. I live in an appartment so I have neighbours on every side.
So, to sum it up: My first listening sessions with the SB12 is impressive. It is the best sub I´ve owned, (and I´ve had a few cheaper ones) and it fills my 18 sq.METER room easily, even with the gain turned far down. I think many people will be satisfied with this sub, whether it be music og HT. My 2 cents.
