I already have one PB12-NSD and I am wanting just a bit more. I am within the 45 day return/exchange window and was wondering if I should exchange for the PB12-Plus or buy an additional PB12-NSD. 2 NSD's would be a few hundred dollars more, but if I exchange I will lose some shipping costs. Thanks in advance.

Tommy, if you have no problems with the added size, then go for the dual subwoofers definitely!

The + will give better SQ but will not match twin NSDs for output. If you are happy with the SQ of the NSD, get a second. You can then colocate for max SPL or segregate for best FR. You could add an HSU MBM-12 for $400 to give you more mid bass. This is where more of your impact comes from. Trim the SVS for the low bass and use the MBM for mid bass. I don't believe this would be quite the same as twin NSDs for total output.

I believe you would get the second NSD for $540 (10% off for returning customer).

I would challenge anyone to tell the difference in SQ between the PLus and NSD series in a blind listening test under most conditions. They are SOOO close 99% of the time. Definitely get two NSDs, you will not be sorry. Two colocated subs will give you much more headroom and than a single Plus of any flavor. Contact SVS directly for more technical data. Craigsub can probably give you some insight into the comparisons as well....

If you want better SQ and more output, then return the NSD and hold out for the new Ultra which will be more like at least 3 NSDs with better SQ.

Try and email Mason at Sonicboom Audio and tell him you'd be adding another NSD to your setup. You'll get a 5% discount for sure and probably a free shipping as well depending on where you live.

Dual PB12 NSD will definetely spank the PB12 Plus in maximum output when co-located. But a dual PB12 Plus co-located will spank you even more

Dual PB-12NSD's would be about equal to a single PLUS/2. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference at all...

Thats right from the expert Ed Mullen himself...

So I see you are still debating the dual NSD's. I think I am just going to go all out and get one of the PB12 Ultra's and add a second one later on. I did put the HSU order on hold for right now. Still debating which way I want to go.

I don't think its much of a debate for me anymore....

I'm going to keep my PB-12NSD on craigslist though, if I can get GOOD money for it I am going to sell it and buy ONE new Ultra PB-13 when it comes out. I have a feeling a SINGLE ultra will outperform even a DUAL PB-12NSD set up.....

(chime in if ANYONE disagrees with that last statement)

If I don't sell it, then down the road I'll just get a 2nd PB-12NSD

Either way I'll be a happy camper

I am sure that the new Ultra PB-13 is going to be a beast. Can't wait to see that come out. Does anyone know how long until it is ready for purchase?
