Has anyone ever lost the feet to the sub? Well I moved and for whatever reason didn't put them in the box....I did talk to HSU and they were very helpful but replacement feet run $30. The rep did say that they use M6 X 1.0 screw for the feet, which is easy to find just need to find either spikes or feet, and idea's? Thanks in Advance.

PS: The sub is a VTF-2/MK3 if it matters

I am looking for a good budget sub for my son for christmas. I know all the usual subs under $300 . I found a used hsu VTF-2 MK3 subwoofer. on craigs list for $275 The owner says it is like new. I am an hour away so i could easily pick it up. Any thoughts on this sub for this price. His basement theater is 14 x 24 with 7ft ceilings. He currently has a dayton 1200 sub. The dayton blends nicely with the ascend acoustic speakers however it does not extend nearly low enough.

At 275 that thing is a steal. I payed 549 for mine just two years ago and it is a beast. Make sure you hear it first but if you can get that sub that cheap go for it. You will not find better for that price.

My son and i picked up the used sub monday and set it up that night. We moved his Dayton 1200 to the rear of his room. We experimented with the ports and decided it sounded best with both plugs out . It really sounds wonderful. He has a yamaha RX-A 3000 receiver so there is no equalizing on the subs. The dayton did a nice job of complimenting the Hsu without drawing any attention to itself. We used the Skidoosh scene from Kung Fu Panda to make the adjustments and it really shook the room. For 275 i am very satisfied and glad i drove 2 hours to get it.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and have a question. I have an HSU STF-2 and I want to get a pair Vanatoo Transparent One active monitors to hook up to it. My only concern is that the built-in crossover in the Vanatoos is 120Hz, and I want to be sure that the STF-2 will sound good at frequencies that high (especially since it's own crossover stops at 90Hz). Does anyone have experience listening to the STF-2 at 120Hz (or even higher)?

Thanks!

It looks like the Vanatoo automatically shoots out a low passed 120 hz signal to the sub, so bass management (such as it is) should be very easy. Just shoot the cable out from the Vanatoo to the subwoofer, and turn the sub's internal crossover off. The STF2 has an upper +/- 2 dB point of 100 Hz, so it shouldn't be terrible at 120, if not quite as loud as 50 - 80 Hz.

Thanks Shady J. Someone from Vanatoo support also just replied to me and said that the STF-2 is "reasonably flat" beyond 125Hz so it should sound fine at those frequencies. If anyone has personal experience running the STF-2 at frequencies above 90Hz I'd love to hear opinions. Thanks.

I have been searching for a sub to replace my JBL PB12, 250RMS, Downfiring 12 inch. (back in 2001, this was a $400 retail sub). I still think it sounds great for music.

I have a large room to fill, opening to a kitchen. This sub will only be used for 2.1 music. I have decided against sealed subs, because I don't think they'll have the output I need for a large room that I want in my music: Rock, Dub, Funk, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, etc...
What I am wanting is a sub that hits well on kick drums for Rock and something the will step down to low music notes as well, but still be controlled and musical. The VTF-2 Mk4 seems like my best bet with both ports open, is this the case? And have you all enjoyed this sub for music reproduction?

How large is your room? Where do you sit in your room? Do post a detailed sketch including the kitchen. Sounds like a VTF-3 MK5 HP with both ports open, EQ2 Q 0.3 should be more like what you need. Will give placement recommendations after seeing your room details.

Thanks for the reply! I don't sit in a stationary position in this room for listening. I am usually all over the house (open floor plan). When I am in the room, I am either in the actual family room part or the kitchen. The Family room is connected to the kitchen without any openings, it's one large rectangle. I'd say about 35 long x 18 wide x 9 high, with openings to other rooms. The sub is about 3 ft away from a corner and about .8 ft from the wall (one of the 18ft walls). I have found that this position sounds great with the JBL sub I have.

I am not sure I want to get up into the VTF-3 price point. And, I am not sure I need something with much more output than the JBL sub I already have listed. I just want something with the same or above output, and to be good at music production, listening to the music I listed above.

I'd also like to hear from others in this thread who have the VTF-2 Mk4, how they like this sub with music reproduction.

Dr. Hsu-

Will you be offering a dual drive purchase option on the VTF-15H MK2?

Yes! We will have that option soon. Huge back order for now though. The Long Beach port delays are not helping!

I thought Longview Washington was the only port that had that problem. Sorry to hear that is going on down there too. But that's Unions for you! Disrupt everyone's business for there own personal interest.

There is a small discount on the dual drive pricing if you didn't see it before in this post from the VTF15h mk2 thread.
