Probably because you have positioned your statements as if they are a revelation, or you have some mystic vision. The rest of your copy pushes the envelope into the area of superfluous blather.

Perhaps the only analogy you have not discussed might be the relevance and use of the PT Boat (if the technology was available) in the French and Indian war.

...But the fact remains that Jello (some members don't seem to realize that that's a term of endearment for JL Audio and not an epithet, despite being so told) started building them in a modern context, and in the process started a trend that now appears to be spilling over from car-fi into home audio even though the reason Jello started doing them in the first place does not really apply in home audio.

I don't know, seems like a very natural evolution to me. Let's see, a driver not much bigger that a 12" with out put equal to or better than most 15" - 18" drivers on the market today. Let's throw in some attention to sound quality and linearity too. Maybe people would enjoy this in their homes and we can grow our business! Eureka!

Citroen looks like a car but it is not.

They never do what they are suppose to do..........

The word Citroen gives me a serious headache and sleapless nights.

-No wipers in rain, wipers in Summer that automatically start when it has been dry for a month.
-hydraulic suspension goes up and down when it is not supposed to do
-electronic failures, red lights on dashboard light all day
-computer says "stop the car your engine is overheated all the time, when there is not reason to.
-remote control unlocks doors each and everytime

France is sometimes nice for Holidays but creating cars ? please let the Germans or Japs produce cars........French producers never get electronics to work even in 2007.

I'm on my 5th cup of coffee, and probably my 7th cigarette, but nothing so far. Maybe I should sit next to my sub and do my own personal research on the brown note

But for the sake of the threads original topic, could anyone tell me a bit more about the cone material used in the TV13?

Unless you get lucky enough for TV to chime in, you probably need to contact tech support for that info.

Ok, I am officially requesting a B4Ultra13 be offered. Yes, I understand that a moving truck and 4 movers will be required for delivery. Where can I send my payment to??? I am ready to buy.

As a return buyer, you can get 4 of the new Ultras for $5000. The B4+ was appx. $4000 with the Bass box and a Crown K2.

Four of the new Ultra drivers will need at LEAST a K2 ... and when you figure the ol Ultra was appx. $300 more per driver than the old Plus driver, I would guess you are looking at well over $5000 for a B4-U13.

The B4-U13 would also have a higher natural tuning, and offer fewer placement options.

Order 4 Ultras and a lot of beer.

Good comments Craig. I think it would be amusing to see a diesel generator-sized Ultra/4 subwoofer but it's not the most practical product for SVS to design.

SVS B4Ultra13.5 hmm interesting, one thing that may limit its popularity...

Size and weight, the B4Plus used toy woofers compared to the new Ultra13.5 woofer. Now Lets say 5o-60 lbs per woofer times four...you have at minimum 200lbs in woofers plus the box,a bigger cabinet, even stouter than before. 120-160lbs for the cabinet we are talking 320-360lbs. Amp external of course.

Now a dual dual driver Ultra13.5 will be managable around 220lbs(estimate),400lbs a bit less. But again we have the Gotham @ nearly 400lbs ...I will get one of those. So some people are crazy enough to get heavy subs.I am one of those people.

Competition is good. Looking forward to see the first pics oof the new Ultra and some tests.

Ask yourself mortal , do you have as much displacement as me ? The answer is no unless you have a Windmere fan sub.

Exactly....

I've been waiting since before december last year to see the new Ultra and although we have a 3D image teaser, we still dont know what It will actually look like..

Any spy photos??

If its set to ship in the next coming months it means the design has to be finalized right??

IIRC, they are going to release pictures on May 1 when pre-order starts. (or at least they SHOULD)

I'm gonna start chanting "pictures" IF they don't release on May 1.

I would get the Thigpen Rotary before a B4 Ultra, or any $9,000 sub.

Your also forgetting that the rotary woofer is not a full range sub.

Thanks Chris

The Thigpen Rotary itself is still $12,900. I see how you can get to $20K, however, not everyone will have to purchase their design and installation.

Kind Regards

I wonder if the new SVS Ultra 13.5 will have the room EQ circuitry like the JL Phantom F113 has? That might make the biggest difference to me.

I highly doubt it, as they are marketing a new Sub EQ, and for the price of what they are offering the sub for, I would think they would count on people would be looking for Sub Equalization as well.. so they will grab at your pocket book with marketing the AS-EQ1
as seen here....

http://www.svsound.com/CES2007/SVS_AudyessyRelease.pdf

Funny quoting another persons thoughts... Wayne

The first page says good bass, affordably done, but the second page says the MSRP is $750.

I can get a new SMS-1 for $475. shipped. and you can get into a BFD for less then $200.

There is no question about the price. I have an SMS myself, but you have to realize that the SMS cannot do everything that the Audessey product can.

First off, the auto-EQ on the SMS is worthless.
Second, the SMS can only equalize for one listening position.
Third, the SMS can only really control one sub, the EQ is applied to all outputs.

The Audessey will automatically average the response for multiple listening positions while individually controlling two subs independently, including phase, etc.

So, all things considered the price may not be all that bad.

Where the Audessey may fall short is; on screen display and manual adjustment.

Point well taken... I am looking forward to my measurements with my SMS-1 and also like many will be looking for the best product to enhance my listening...

So I look forward to hearing the results of what the SVS - AS-EQ1 will have to offer to the public ....

I am also looking forward to trying the AS-EQ1 myself. I suppose I will have to order one when available to compare the results. It is promising, but the jury is still out.

Looking forward to some reviews too.
