late Thursday the 9th. As of Friday it's still sitting in California so it basically didn't really go anywhere. They're slating it as a Thursday delivery. Typically it's 3 days for me with most stuff from CA I'm surprised it says Thursday.

I just finished watching battle L. A. the lfm-ex was absolutely sensational. Those of you on the fence about purchasing this sub need to do yourselves a big favor and pull the trigger. I'll be watching tron tomorrow. Or should I say "experiencing" tron tomorrow.

mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I have that movie sitting around on Bluray waiting to load it up when the sub arrives. I just bought the Auralex Gramma and it made my old sub come to life but I'm just going to straight up throw the Outlaw on it from the get go.

This rig plus my Klipsch Reference speakers = I'm sure I'm in for a treat. Can't wait. I will most def. post up when it arrives.

I'm curious to see how some other bass movies sound with this rig (Inception, Transformers, etc.).

Question is what do I play first...music or movies and if so which track or film...okay gotta go to bed. I feel like a kid waiting for this thing lol.

I chuckled after reading that. In the old days, I used to watch a movie for plot, content, character development, etc. Now, moreso than not, I watch a movie for reference and "going for an Outlaw ride." My, times have changed.

You and me both. And the movie studios must love it. I would never have bought tron, since I was'nt into the original either. But because of the soundtrack I actually enjoyed what I thought was a mediocre movie. So even though the movie was not great, a lot of people who are not fans are purchasing it just to enjoy the soundtrack and video quality.

it's on the regular $49 gramma and fits fine (barely). It's fine on that one. I was worried too but a quick talk with Scott at Outlaw and he told me it'd fit.

EDIT: Any ideas guys how to tune this thing in good (without an SMS-1 or anything fancy). My concern is mostly with movies. Running it on music I got it to sound nice (AV Receiver has it at -15.0dB (lowest it can go) with the outlaw on 4/5 range). Movies it's deafening loud with comparison to the other speakers and I must say...too much bass. LOL

My LMF1-EX is still in transit with expected delivery this Monday. I wish I could have it before the weekend.

I have a question about Auralex Gramma. Is it something that you use for carpeted floor? My HT floor is hardwood just above the basement. Would Auralex make any significant improvement of the sound quality?

Thanks in advance.

If you're Outlaw sub causes a loud resonance or rattling in your home, it should tighten up the sound.

after 1 day of ownership with the LFM-1 EX...simply stunning sub.

I found a lot of what I read to be true so far. The sub definitely blends in well with the other speakers in that you don't know where it's coming from. It digs deep with no effort. I've done mostly music jamming with it and even songs with no real bass track have plenty of life with this sub. The ones with...well yea lots of bass.

It also blends in well as a piece of furniture. It looks like a heavy marble black end table.

Movies I'll test later today once I know my tenant above has left her place.

I have the settings right now on the volume between 2 and 3...simply ridiculous what a low setting it's on along with the LFE channel being -15.0dB

I think over the weekend I'll play with tuning it in more scientifically. Right now I'm just enjoying it.

Stage 2 - Realism
Stage 3 - Obsession
Stage 4 - Acceptance

good Lord you're in for an awakening. You'll wonder how you went w/o one all this time.

Anyways, for an apartment this thing is great at low/normal volumes.

I did crank it when the 2nd floor lady wasn't home and my buddy was home on the 3rd. I cranked a track off Armin van Burren (techno/trance) and all I can say is how on Earth do people run TWO of these things.

It rocked my kitchen glassware 30ft away and my friend TWO stories up said it was shaking his kitchen...

Whoa nelly! Right now just enjoying some live Eric Clapton recordings. Drum kicks are sweet and subtle with this sub.

Here is a FR graph of the LFM1-EX in my room.
It was plotted in Excel so its in a little different format than you are accustomed to seeing.
The volume was not adjusted between the three plots on the graph.
Since I took data up to 200Hz I included that and a graph scaled to 100Hz.
The last graph is with a Yamaha SW160 sub one of my coworkers gave me a few weeks ago.
The absolute levels in the third chart are not level matched to the first two charts, so it is for FR comparo only.

Edit here:
Oh yeah the EX in in max extension configuration.

I've been running my Sub for a couple of days now and I'm really enjoying it. I was worried about selling off my old sub (which I did) and not being happy with a smaller replacement (wattage/oomph/visuals).

What I've noticed so far is this sub is hard to isolate/locate in comparison to my old SVS 20-39PC+, with any set up.

I've run the SVS with Orb Mod2s and SVS STS02s and could always tell where it was no matter its location. Right now, the Outlaw is teamed up with the Orbs and it sounds great, it compliments the Orbs wonderfully the bass seems to be very centralized.

Tomorrow I will try the SVS STS02 (5.0) with the outlaw and see what I get. My goal is to sell off the SVS STS02s and go with the orbs for when I move into a smaller space where I don't want A/V gear to swallow the room (well except for the 61: DLP .

The subs finish is excellent, its going to work great as an out of site end table (between wall and couch), the non-audiophile GF says it looks quite modern, and this is without the protective film off the plexi and that after hearing the orbs without a sub she understand the need for a sub. Progress

this is a smaller replacement???

Sorry I lol'ed

Anyways, my big plus for this LFM1-EX is even at extremely LOW listening volumes (apartment right now at 2am) it's still very present and not overwhelming whereas a weaker sub would be MIA.

Running at -45dB AVR with Sub at -15.dB and set to 2 on the back.

Had a rough day yesterday even though I wasn't supposed to be working because of being ill. When I finally did get to relax and watch a movie, I discovered the subwoofer sound was all screwed up. Upon inspection, someone had gotten behind the sub and screwed with each and every toggle switch and knob. Funny how when things like that happen, nobody knows who did it. So I brought down the thunder on the whole family.

I'm looking forward to the day when scientists can identify and fix the gene in some women that controls their urge to play with things they haven't a clue about.

When I was a little tyke my dad would tell me "I swear boy you could tear up an anvil with a rubber hammer".
Of course I never touched anything I wasn't supposed to and could not undertand what he was talking about.
Then I goy my very own little tyke and gained clarity about what my own father meant all those years ago.
Now that the knobs and switches have been investigated you probably won't have any more problems.

Regards,
Charlie

Fortunately, I'm moving my sub as soon as I get my specially designed A/V stand completed. It's going underneath with alll the controls facing the back of the wall. Until then, nobody's allowed to touch anything unless they're covered in bubble wrap and wearing oven mitts.

To add my opinion on the LFM1-ex, I'm not excited about my purchase.

I had a Def Tech Supercube I, but it died on me outside of the warranty a few months back and before I bought a new one I was going to look at what else was out there. $500ish was my budged and from my research the LFM1-ex sounded like it was the best option. I regret picking it now and wished I just bought another Supercube I. (I get an electronic employee discount so its in the $600 range for me)

Compared to the Supercube I, it just doesn't seem to sound as good or be as powerful. This was a surprise to me due to the all the outstanding reviews, I thought it was going to blow me away but imho its just below par of the supercube. It isn't bad, just not what I expected from reading opinions on it. I guess its just a case of having too high of expectations or maybe since I haven't heard my supercube in the past few months I think it sounded better then it really performed. I just got it Friday and only spent the weekend playing with it so hopefully I can tweak it a bit.

For reference I put it in the same place I had my supercube and used the same MCACC calibration setup on my pioneer receiver.

Well my family has a similar setup as me (Klipsch Reference line) but instead of my EX they use a Supercube II. I'm actually visiting them tomorrow in Florida. I tried to convince them to buy the LFM1-EX but they won't budge as they're concerned about size and space. With that said, I'll take a strong listen at it and try and give you my thoughts in comparison to the Outlaw.

What part of it are you not happy with on the LFM1-EX?
