I have a dilemma right now.

I managed to pick up a sb-2000 for a good price ($600) and I also have a x12 on the way for $550.

The x12 is cheaper, but the sb was also quite a steal. For 80% movies 20% music what's everyone's take on what I should keep. My room is about 20x10 with two open doorways.
Return the SB-2000 and order another X12

If you mostly watch movies, most people would want the extra LFE output added by the ported X12. That would be my choice out of the choices you provided.
If you don't want a 2nd sub due to costs, I would still keep a single X12.

The x12 arrived! My God the bass is strong on this one. Blows the sb2000 away. In terms of tightness and clarity the sb wins but not by a huge margin. I think we have a winner.

On a separate note. This thing is heavy as hell. Carrying it and unboxing it solo was hell. Also how are people doing the subtract? The spikes will destroy my couch -_-

You can just put it right in front of the couch and then do your sub crawl.

Hard to compare ported vs sealed. The SB-2000 will easily win in extension and for me personally, SQ and music. But the ported X12 has my vote for HT due to the added output.

I put my Outlaw on a block of wood for the Sub Crawl...if that's what you meant.

Thanks for the suggestions. My new question is that I've always read to give ports at least 2 times their diameter in clearance to let it breath. With spikes the sub is still very close to the ground, with bottom facing ports will this cause an issue? I wonder why it's designed this way.

There's a lot of differing opinions on port spacing, but in a case like this they designed it to sit on a floor and I haven't had any issues with mine.

May not have wanted to destroy those. If you have warranty issues they require you to ship it back in the original box, and they charge around $50 for a replacement.....unless something has changed since I owned/sold my outlaws.

War of the Worlds is fantastic! I demoed that scene the other day for some friends and they were very impressed.

I have a LMF1-EX with an amp that keeps blowing fuses. In the process of contacting Outlaw to see about repair costs.

But PE has the 300W Bash amp on sale for $148:
http://www.parts-express.com/bash-30.../2/300-750.htm

Has anyone replaced an original LMF amp with one of the generic Bash ones?

Is the Outlaw M8 the same sub as the Atlantic Technology SB-900DF? The frequency response seems to be a bit different in the 2 specs, otherwise they look identical.

Maybe Outlaw owners have more info. Thanks.

Outlaw M8 vs Atlantic Technology SB-900DF - are they the same sub?

Didn't see this mentioned, but all this week Outlaw has had the Ultra-X12 on sale for $519, shipped. I believe that's the lowest price ever for a single unit. Heck of a deal.

That's an add-on price, only if you buy it with any of the expensive stuff above it.

Answering my own question ... I called both companies. Terrible customer support from Atlantic, clueless people they have no idea what they are selling. Terrible warranty too, 1 yr only and only if you register your sub in the first 30 days. Stay away from Atlantic.

Outlaw on the other hand has great support, knowledgeable people, the sub has 3 yrs warranty without any required registration. The person I spoke with confirmed that both subs are almost the same, they only use slightly different drivers, hence the slight difference in frequency response numbers.

TL;DR: Buy from Outlaw.

That's actually incorrect, SirDracula. You can order the Ultra-X12 by itself for $519, despite the "add-on" notation.

Did you actually try it and were successful? I did with the M8 I was interested in, for $239, and they canceled my order, they said it would be $340 shipped by itself.

Well I did place an order and it went through. If they are allowing orders to go through then cancelling them, then that's bad on their end. My order was placed Sat., so perhaps I'll be getting a cancellation on Monday. They should have their website set up properly to not allow orders to go through for invalid prices.

Yeah, you will hear back from them on Monday, their system seems to be manual order processing, it's not automated, they review each order. I even tried to see if they'd be willing to offer a slight deal for the "inconvenience" but they would not budge. And no B-stock either which I was willing to buy as they usually go for $249 for M8. So no Outlaw M8 for me, I'm looking at other subs now.

Well thanks for the heads-up on my impending cancellation...lol. I guess I'll go to plan B.

That's strange, as I was able to place another order for the Ultra-X12 just now. Received an order number and email. I'm using firefox browser.

no...my understanding is the M8 and Ultra discounted pricing is for add on only. meaning you must purchase another item and then add the sub to the order for a discounted price.

You can't get them at that special price, no point wasting time trying, they will cancel your order anyway.

Yes, I ordered the x12 last week for $519. The order went through, but it was cancelled next date as that price was for add-on only.

Apparently that's how Outlaw intended it to be, but that's not how they have it set up. You can just add the sub to your cart from the Special Promotions tab and checkout. And that's with the $519 price.

Yes, that "special" was very poorly worded and quite misleading!

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and EMP e5Bi surrounds, Outlaw LFM1 Plus sub, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub
Set up #3: Philharmonics- BMR in a 2.0 system, music only
