I don't think there is a specific setting. Just set it with a Mic at 75 db with the rest of your system. Everyone's setting will be slightly different. One other poster was at -10 so these amp need to be turned up more than the old bash it seems.

Thanks Bill for the info. I set mine using Audyssey on my Denon A100 and had @ -20 wasn't bad but I bumped it up to -15. @. -10 in my room the Ultra popped so I backed it down.

What does audyssey have the receiver settings at, just wondering?

Does anyone here have photos of how they handles these large subs in their HT?

I have a PC13 Ultra and am buying a second, which can be either the box or cylinder. My Theater is only 17x14 and these big boys make all the designs a pain...

Right now I'm going to lie them on their side front and rear center. The front will be under the screen and the rear right up against the wall and seating. Im planning on having the 7.5 inch GIK monster panels on the rear walls and the try traps in the front corners.

Ended up writing a review of the sub last week (hey, I was bored) after swapping out my old BASH amp for a Sledge amp (swapped with another member). In case anyone was curious about whether I thought there was a noticeable difference in "SQ" or not ....

That is a terrific in-depth review if the PB13. It is very nicely done. You could very well have a future as a writer for some audio publication. I would like to make one very minor correction. You describe the JTR Captvator as "much larger." While it is indeed larger, it is in fact just less than only about 11% larger than the PB13 at 7.81 cu. ft. vs 7.08 cu. ft. It also actually takes up a good deal less floor space with about 5" less depth.

Thanks Mike, will correct that when I get a chance. Figured from the pics I've seen it looked much larger but shouldve checked the specs

A nice write up by someone that obviously has too much free time. Better than many so-called professionals have done, Steve.

You did point out what I consider a major flaw in the design. That's where the control knob and display is located. The control and display are cabled to the control board (instead of being integrated on the board) so it would be easy to use a longer cable and place the unit on the front baffle or even recessed in the top (though not ideal if you want to stack subs).

Anyway, keep writing like that and you could get a job at 'Canucks on New Fangled Electric Stuff' ezine.

Yeah. The knob location drove me nuts. Didn't the original pics of the SB line show the IFC on the front of the sub? Guess the added cost/complication wouldve just added cost. Plus they wouldn't have been able to use the new amp in the old boxes if they did that. I've heard they're having difficulties sourcing BASH amps now.

Anyone somewhat local to Kansas City want to bring a pair of PB13 Ultras over to the KC blind shootout on Jan 14? We may have one available, but likely not a pair - yet. If so please shoot me a PM, or respond in the thread below.

Great idea. Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your idea for our meet, LOL. We are also hosting a GTG in the PA/NJ/MD/NY/DE area on February 11th and would love to hear a pair of Ultras as well. We currently have pairs of JTR Caps, Seaton Submersive HP, single Subersive F2, CHT 18.T, and Dual opposed MFWs, JL F113s. A pair (or even single if needed) of Ultras would really complete our comparison for the day!

Does an AS-EQ1 help blend 2 different subs together ? Just recently got a pc13 ultra to compliment my pc12nsd

Or am i better off with just the pc13u as the pc12nsd might just hold it back or introduce distortion

Two subs with similar low end rolloff characteristics should be able to be made to work well together. The PC13 in 20hz tune should have similar, all though much more powerful, low end performance. There is no reason these two shouldn't work well together.

lol closet.

They are all set to 20hz (incluing the Pluses) and the ASEQ1 along with individual spl meter readings evens out the response.
