I have to think that if the amps haven't failed already, that they are unlikely to fail anytime soon. Most of the failures that I've seen commented on were infant mortality with less than 6 months of use. I'm into my 5th year with my Bash driven PB13 Ultra, no hiccups yet. On the down side, depending on your processor, you would only get 1 channel of EQ...

I'd offer 2k for the pair and grin like a cat once I dialed them in . YMMV.

BASH FAILURE RATE WAS MOSTLY CONFINED TO THE FIRST BATCH MANUFACTURED.COLD START-UP IS ALSO NOT GOOD FOR THE BASH. LEAVE THEM IN STANDBY.i HAVE 3 750W BASH AMPS IN STORAGE SINCE UPGRADING TO SLEDGE. THEY WORK AND LOOK PERFECT.
how much were those sledge amps? I have a pair of ultras with the bash and would like to upgrade to sledge. Also were the ya pain to replace?

I think they are around 600-800. Just unscrew it and take the speaker connectors off.

I just had to replace a blown 6 year old bash amp in my PB13-Ultra and it was a simple procedure. The new amp has different speaker connections in a different place so they supply a pig-tail adaptor to make it plug and play.

I haven't had much time to play with it yet but set up basically the same as the Bash amp it seems to have more output at the same levels. 1 port plug installed in 16hz tune. After an SPL meter calibration I'm running my pre-out at -1 and the gain on the Sledge at -13 and it rocks the room!

The new amp is $599.00 Canadian (I see you're in Mississauga) but because I bought my sub there he gave me 10% off and $10.00 shipping to my door next day.

There is only one vendor in Canada (about an hour from you) so it should be a no brainer.

Take Care

I replaced my bash with a sledge and sold the bash for close to the cost of the sledge on craigslist so it all worked out. Install was a little more difficult on mine with some of the wires WAY TOO SHORT. If they were a few inches longer it would have been a very easy install. Everything was included the difference was noticeable.

How does PB13-Ultra in sealed mode compare to the SB13-Ultra? Would the sound quality be identical at that point to a blind eye?

I'm also here crushing walls with movies.
I have not tried the PB 13Ultra with music as I have my system set up only for movies nor have I heard the SB 13 to compare. As many of you may already know Ed Mullen of SVS states it takes 4 SBs to equal the output of 1 PB. Food for thought.

I have set up aggressive equalization using both PEQs 1 and 2 which include extensive listening tests using various movie scenes and also matching the Q-Factor to the size of the room. You will need a lot of patience, time, and your ears on this. Technology won't really help.

Got rid of the rubber feet and replaced them with BDR racing pucks MK 4s. Those are the low profile ones. Definitely tighter on the delivery. The PB 13 is on the Auralex Great Gramma. Got rid of the stock AC cord since for an awesome sub it's junk. Went for Synergistcs Research Element Copper-Tungsten and a definite change northwards. Got a Blue Circle Audio 18x filter on the free outlet above which includes Shunyata Research's SR-Z1 model and VOILA tons of performance in the room, tons of money out of the bank account and Bob's my uncle.

Life is short, but hey it's only money. It's the only real hobby I have.

Oh and BTW I did NOT spend $1500 on a subwoofer interconnect. Decided to use an NF-B.

Still one of the highest quality subs on the market at any price.

I sold the PC Ultra 13, as I thought it wasn't great for music. It's a small room though. Bought the SB Ultra 13. Yes I could run the Cylinder in sealed but that isn't optimal and why have a huge cylinder sub if converting it? Didn't cost that much to go from one U to U.

Great job on getting the SB 13Ultra fatbottom.

How does it play with the 7 Krell Evolution 900e and the Bose speakers you have? Must be fantastic.
One thing I must say is that if you got 7 Krell Master Reference then you probably would have had to upgrade on the smaller Bose. Those MRAs would be a bit too much.

Hey fatbottom, it's the bose speakers that gave it away hence my reference to the 7 Master Reference amps. I love your signature. It's funny.

I'm sure this question has been asked before but haven't been on the forums for a while and was just wondering what are the benefits or improvements in replacing the older bash amp on a PB 13-ultra? Thanks

Extra PEQ
adjustable high pass with two slope settings
adjustable slope setting on low pass
More power
Low power green mode
BASH supposed to be little bit unreliable
Single dial/push button and LCD adjustment (pro and con to this)
Digital volume control, no nasty pots to go wrong and crackle

I think the BASH is analog where the Sledge is digital.

They're both class D amps, if that's what you mean. But I guess the sledge gain, phase, and crossover are digital.

Hey guys. Curious, anyone ever do a comparison of the PC 13 Ultra vs PB 13. Are there any significant disadvantages to the PC over the boxed version? One consider a pair for LFE duties in my theater.

looking for some feedback from current SVS owners.

The PB has 1 or 2 dB difference in output.
