Basically, China does not like Blu-Ray because of the cost.
Not sure how things will play out in the states, but this is rather big news. China tends to lead technology forward with the consumer response.

Actually, the one without the dash (HD DVD) is dead. Your player can't play CBHD discs and your discs (and mine too) won't play on a CBHD player.

Yes, but the basic technology is not. Seeing how it's built off that, they might simply allow the older media to play on the new hardware.

Nope...they don't want to pay royalites...that's the reason for CBHD.
