Got my 1st blu-ray player recently which is DLNA capable.

I have played around with mezzmo and iso images of a DVD (using a very old product that transcodes and reduces video quality).

So now that I am happy with mezzmo, I need a serious product that can do a 1:1 rip to an iso file, no transcoding, quality reduction etc.

I dont mind paying for a product (in fact I prefer to as reading about some of the freeware around, they are riddled with malware).

Windows or Linux is fine.

Also something that is simple to use (ie I just want to ripp iso's ) would be an advantage.

Thanks,

Peter

You just want to make a decrypted ISO version of a DVD as is? Linux has free tools for that.

vobcopy and dvdbackup will make complete VIDEO_TS structures, then the standard mkisofs command will make an ISO. (Use -dvd-video for just this purpose).

Those are command line tools. Look at k9copy for GUI.

DVD Shrink still works on most DVDs. I use it all the time.

some simple scripting (after installing libdvdcss and dvdbacklup) gets the job done.

I pissed around with windows based stuff forever (either too complex , didnt work or full of malware).... but 20 minutes on linux and its done:

loc=`df | grep sr0 | cut -d'/' -f5`
echo "${loc}"
rm -rf /home/dvd
mkdir /home/dvd
dvdbackup -i /dev/sr0 -o /home/dvd -M
dir=`ls -1 /home/dvd`
echo "${dir}"
mv "/home/dvd/${dir}" /home/dvd/ricko
mkisofs -dvd-video -o /mnt/hgfs/video/new/new.iso /home/dvd/ricko
isoinfo -i /mnt/hgfs/video/new/new.iso -l
umount /media/${loc}
