To All:

This is a Fact only List, when a title gets a official release date it gets added RED, BLUE or PURPLE. There is no agenda no propaganda just the facts.
Omissions are mistakes but only if a title has been officially given a release date by the studio, and is independently corroborated.
Sites used to corroborate include the studio sites, and highdef digest, and shortly highdefdisc news.

Digital bits, blu-ray forum, and hollywood in hi-def are not used.
In the latest update I will add the sources, as a discliamer.

More importantly, where is the "broad slate of more than 125 titles for 4th quarter" promised by Paramount, Universal and Warner just a month ago? I'm counting under seventy titles, and that's including eleven re-issues.

Sure, I can only hope that either side sees enough business where they want to do that much. Sadly, I doubt they will invest that much until business picks up.

Seems that older or classic movies are basically dead with all format exclusive studios - I think I saw one movie from the 70ies (close encounters) from all the format exclusive studios in Q4 - are they kidding us ?

Thanks to Warner for still making an effort - obviously the other studios don't give a damn.

Man... I can't wait to be format neutral, looks like it will be just the right time too. BR has a nice release schedule for the holidays, can't wait to get my $399 PS3.

That includes 11 re issues and neutral studio titles.

It appears that they have production problems also.

Cartman: Dude, check it out! "Time Cop" on DVD. Three copies for eighteen bucks!
Kyle: Why the hell would you want three copies of the same movie?
Cartman: Because one copy is nine ninety-eight! But this way you save like twenty bucks!
Kyle: You only need one copy, r-tard!
Cartman: Okay, fine, dumb ass, YOU go ahead and buy one copy for nine ninety-eight!
Kyle: Okay, fine, I will! (grabs a copy) Huh, wait a minute! I don't even want ONE copy of Time Cop! (puts it back)
Cartman: Dude, you can't shop for crap.

Apparently its was confirmed.
So Blu-Ray.com is making up releases?

So it's a Blu Ray website, so what?
This is pretty much a HD DVD site now and I still give most of the info I read on here some credibility. lol

I honestly don't think it's fair to say this is a BD site just because some have the audacity to prefer it over BD, there's still a pretty broad mix.

As far as street dates, everyone lies, studios, the BDA, the DVDA, and HDM pundits. It's one of the biggest areas of inflated "campaign promises" ever conceived. We really ought to not be so gullible by this juncture.

I believe you meant to say hd dvd there.

Case in point you used the word audacity to explain a Blu Ray fan.

Yeah, I have the audicity to describe AVS as pretty much an HD DVD fansite!

Not that there arent a few of us still here that are big blu supporters ,but yeah, I find the majority here are HD DVD supporters and early hd dvd adopters who jumped on as nuetral.

But I still find it informative, and I dont think hd dvd fans are "the devil".
We share a love of movies and HT and will someday no longer be debating formats.
So I don't think AVS being a little red is the end of the world.I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I was just pointing out that people often dont like blu-ray.com .Well, it is a BLU RAY site.
I dont hear so much critique or mention of the hd dvd fansite becasue....well frankly I believe it's pretty much AVS now.

I don't think AVS is an HDDVD fansite at all but I do ache for the days when these threads don't exist and whatever it takes to get there.

Manikan,
Thought I'd give you the heads up.

Life of Brian was given a new date.
The other blu titles reported as delayed will be on schedule.

The Rock and Con Air will get a Blu-ray release on January 8th, followed the next month by Crimson Tide.

Look for a confirmation before the next update.

thanks!

Another one to remove from the already skimpy HD DVD list, Jack Ryan, which has been recalled by Paramount for being skimpy on features itself apparently.

Nice try at some FUD! How about the truth of the matter:

The text of Paramount's email to retailers follows below:

Quote:

Please be advised that there are typographical errors on the packaging for the Jack Ryan Special Collector's Edition HD-DVD. The packaging inadvertently notes special features that are not on the HD-DVD. As a result, this product is being recalled and street date is being delayed. We ask that you do not sell or rent this product to consumers and that you stop shipments to additional destinations

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/news/...an_HD_DVD/1084

This is not uncommon - the Aspect Ratio listed on The Hulk is 2.40 when in reality it is 1.85/1.78 - just to name another typo/info error on a package

What I said was not FUD but truth, it's just one less available title in the lineup list unfortunately. Whether it was recalled due to misinformation on the cover or not, it still had no special features.

It was never supposed to. It is not a new edition box set. Just a box set of the movies that are already out.

The packaging was in error. It never should have said anything about Special Features.

bloody hell, didn't realize those films were already out anyway. I guess this is the equivalent of one of those "best of" format boxsets but instead you get Jack Ryan films on this one. I've heard they were even without menus, though...that's a bit much!
