I am sure this is a setting on my Sony STR-DG910 amplifier, but I thought I would check. I am using Plex Player on my Mac Mini OS X 10.6.x, I am using optical digital output. All my AVI, MKV, MP4 files play great - IF it is encoded in Dolby Digital or DTS. My regular video files that are not encoded with DD or DTS will not output any audio.
My display on my amp changes to PCM 48 and I see the 2 front speaker icons in blue, but no audio. When I switch over to a video that is encoded with Dolby Digital, the display on my amp switches to Dolby Digital and all 5.1 speaker icons lite up and I hear everything perfectly. Same with files encoded with DTS, display on amp changes to DTS 3/2.1 and all the icons lite up and I hear everything perfectly.
Why the heck wont regular encoded stereo files play, now? This used to work fine until recently. I think it has to do wth someone pushing a button or two or thee on my amp. I have gone through all the menus on the amp, and everything looks to be set right - what am I missing?
Ideas? Please...it is driving me nuts!
