As we all know, Mac OSX Lion AND iTunes 10.4.1 killed Front Row.
Lion removed it, and iTunes 10.4.1 changed the library system, thus making front row unable to work on previous versions of Mac OSX, or for those who re-added Front Row to Lion.
So, my question is this, what true alternative do we have now?
Boxee, Plex, and other similar programs don't count as they don't read iTunes metadata from m4v, mp4, and mov files. While there might always be issues with copy-protected files, for those of us who love handbrake, and tag their files for the sake of iTunes, iOS, etc. these programs, like Boxee and Plex, that don't recognize the data, just don't cut it.
So, what HTPC software do Mac people have, who have large video collections in iTunes (I'm currently at 764 movies, 2578 tv episodes)
Note, iTunes doesn't count as the Apple remote cannot be used to guide it, an important feature for any Mac HTPC.
Also, while the above is most important, EyeTV integration is also wanted, along with Netflix support. Hell, Hulu and amazon prime would also be nice.
Or, if there's a way to take programs like Boxee, Plex, and others that scrap imdb and thetvdb, and make them read iTunes data....then that also works
