So, with the announcement of the new iPad 3 with improved display and updated processor, will it have enough muscle to decode 19.4 mbps Mpeg2 transport streams as would be seen coming through an ATSC/QAM tuner untouched such as the HDHomeRun?

I'm interested in this, too.

Specifically, I have a pile of BD ISOs on several external hard drives that I place into a USB docking station.

Oppo has recently removed the ability of their players to play back these ISOs.

Can this new iPad serve that function -- to drive an external display -- and, of course, do it as well as the Oppo apparently used to?

Me three...

But I have not only .m2ts (saved by EyeTV) but many H.264 (also EyeTV converted and containerized by a Hauppauge HD PVR).

I keep telling myself that I have been building this library for years hoping someday that I will be able to use them without the torturous conversion on new Apple equipment, specifically the iPad (3) AND the ATV (3).

Both seem to be able to handle these files but getting them into the device is another question.

Any suggestion to do so would be most appreciated....

Have you tried Air Video? It seems to be able to play just about anything with on the fly conversion
