may be you guys have an idea here. I only recently adopted this iCloud thing for all my hardware. Now, on my iPhone what happens is that it no longer "pushes" new emails. Any clue ?

No, idea, but your thread will likely get shut down as the powers-that-be deems this forum is suitable for home theater chat only.

"But I didn't do it...!"
"I knew you'd say that"...*BLAM!*

Call Apple Support... seriously. Probably just a setting.

If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world.

well, if you're using your iPhone or iPad as a remote in the home theater, as many of us do, still being able to silently push e-mail and messages from iCloud is a valuable thing while you're watching video, at least it's something I rely on...

In Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data, make sure you've selected "Push" and have not selected "manually." Under the Advanced tab, make sure you have iCloud and Push checked. What do you have as your "Auto-lock" setting? Other than that, I'm with grubavs, a quick call should clear it up.

the settings I have are as you described chef. My autolocl is set at 2 min (but this has been so since the day the phone came out ) and until I moved to iCloud I never had a problem with email.

BTW, I curiosity: why are we not warned of emails coming in when the phone is off, like we are for txt msg's ?

I was having problems with push email too. I use snow leopard and imap settings to access iCloud mail on my Mac. Each time iTunes syncs with my idevice it would copy those imap setting, messing up push.

Try this
1) Turn off mail, calendar and note syncing in iTunes.
2) Delete mail account on idevice.
3) recreate icloud account on idevice.
4) enjoy push.

I think you should be able to do it directly on the device.

added step zero
0) Conect idevice to itunes, in itunes select device, in itunes select info tab.
1) In itunes, turn off mail, calendar and note syncing in iTunes.
2) Delete mail account on idevice.
3) Recreate icloud account on idevice. (not a new account, just give old login and pw)
4) Enjoy push.

sadly, it did not work. I did it both just using the iPhone (delete and restore account). Then, at home, I connected it to my Mac only to discover that those sync options were all already unchecked (apparently there's no need for them with iCloud).

by the way. So far my findings are that if I reset the account on the phone only (delete iCloud account, turn phone off, and then recreate account on iphone), "pushing" will work but only for a certain short period, say 12 hours or so. Then it stops. Weird !
