After years and years as a PC and windows guy, I am making the switch to Mac to give it a try.
Equipment and setup:
I have a 2012 Macbook Air on the way with I7, with 8GB of ram and 256 GB of flash hard drive space and the Apple HDMI adapter and the ethernet adater, as well, with a 2TB time capsale, 3rd gen apple tv to hock out to my audio video receiver and a airport express to hock up to a pick of computer speakers in another room.
The Air is on it's way from China, but in the mean time I was hopeing for your help and to do some reading and research. I have succesfully followed the Assassin guide for my XBMC and have been able to bitsream HD audio via an HDMI cable from my sony vaio laptop. I have also used the widi, wireless display technology from intel, but that does not support hd audio currently.
1) So my first question is what is the recommneded way to bitstream HD AUDIO, primarily thru MKVs to my A/V receiver with my macbook pro. I believe the Apple TV will not be helpful in this instance, but I'm wondering if I use the HDMI adapter, what settings and software / drivers I need to install and if it is even possible.
2) Does anyone know if XBMC supports HD Audio for Mac.
3) Are there any guides, sites, FAQ, How to's you have found that would help me get up to speed at least a little bit. I am not afraid to do some reading on the subject, but haven't found anything worth while. Good Forum posts would work as well.
Thanks so much for your time and I greatly look forward to any responses I receive.
