Just thought I'd let other Mac HTPC users know.

DVD Fab now has Blu-ray player software for the Mac.

Allows you to play Blu-ray/DVD ISO files, folders and other video files free for ever, and 30 days free trial to play real Blu-ray/DVD discs.

It says it powered by XBMC. I wonder if it will mess with my existing XBMC 11.0 software. I really depend on it.

I downloaded it. It's a .pkg file that requires using the installer. Those installs usually dig their claws into the system a little deeper than just dragging an App into the Applications folder. Might still check it out though.
I've got that Macgo Blu-ray player software. Works pretty well, but the audio isn't so great. When you play a disc with DTS-HD audio it outputs the core DTS through my optical out on my Mini. Perfect. When you play a disc with Dolby HD audio it only outputs stereo. I've emailed them several times asking when they'd fix it. Got one reply that didn't make much sense. They don't reply anymore. Language barrier? Maybe I'm just being a pest or expecting too much.

Can't speak to other's experience, but I downloaded the free trail a while ago (Dec 2011 - see the thread, "Rip/Convert Software question") to try it's video file conversion function. It worked fine, but I was never able to get it to read a BD on either BD drive (a GGW-H20L and a WH12LS39) in my Mac Pro Early 2009, 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8GB RAM, OSX 10.7.4. I just attempted again with a couple BDs. It is currently spinning its wheels and has been for >30-min, as previously. Not sure what I'm doing wrong... also, it doesn't seem to recognize the BD is in a drive. I have to navigate to the BD to get DVDFab to try to open it.

If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world.

Downloaded the DVDfab Mac Blu-ray player and it works pretty good. No problem playing DVD (Video_TS) or Blu-ray (.mkv) files. Had a little trouble at first figuring out how to turn off sub-titles but once I found out you can right click a settings menu all is good now.

I cannot however play a Blu-ray disk from my external drive as the software says it can do. Mostly the software just crashes.

At least I now have another good .mkv player besides Plex.

Installed DVDFabMediaPlayer on Snow Leopard, launched it : would not recognize the Blu ray disk in my reader.
Then crashed.
Rebooted : would not start anymore !!

Seems to me the same piece of s..t as Plex, which I had installed already, and which may not be able to coexist with.

AVOID !!!

MacGo Blu-ray Player is far from perfect (no Blu-ray menus, audio issues, ...) but at least it works reasonably 9 times out of 10.

Works with MacGo Blu-ray Player on my Mac Mini + Snow Leopard; using a region free LG BP06LU10.

Buggy as hell app.
Plays DVD's and mpeg2 ts's w/AC3 audio.
Sadly it seems it will not let me register-app just beach balls and becomes non-responsive.

It needs a LOT of work and probably should not have been released in this pre-alpha state?

I look forward to its development and progression to a stable / capable BD playback option, since the options on the mac platform are so limited.
