They are calling themselves the first online global TV distribution platform. A bit pretentious in my opinion, but they did snag viacom:

They've actually been around for several months, although they are still in beta testing. If anyone is interested, they have a Mac beta client (http://www.joost.com/blog/). However, in order to get the Mac client, you have to be accepted as a beta tester. One Windows user I know signed up over a month ago and still hasn't heard back. I signed up a few days ago and got a confirmation (of my application) that said "This may take some time."

As I understand it, this will be advertiser supported. So, isn't this just like watching television except you can do it on a computer instead of a TV set?

I think the difference is that Internet TV opens up the possibility of massive amounts of content on demand that you may not be able to get from regular TV.

I was lucky and got accepted a week after applying. The quality of the video still leaves a bit to be desired. Since I began testing it they have added alot of content and recently added a few more channels. The program is very easy to use and allows you to choose what you want to watch when you want, much like on-demand service. When they begin adding content regularly and much quicker it will be much better. They also allow you to submit your own content which is nice.

Thanks for the info. Do the TV shows have commercials in the middle like regular TV or does it work some other way?

Did they give you the ability to "invite" any friends?
