Hi Guys,

I'm having a little trouble setting up my MacBook to work with my Panasonic TX-32LXD60. I have bought a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter, and a DVI to HDMI lead. When I connect it, it displays at 1280x720 50Hz. However the top half of the display is flickering like mad, if I select 1280x720 60Hz the bottom half flickers like mad. I have tried using SwitchResX to no avail, have tried what was suggested in the tutorial but no such luck. I have tried other resolutions such as the native 1366x768, but it still flickers.

I'm not familiar with that display. Does it have VGA or other connection options you can try?

Nope. It has a component connection and 2 HDMI connections.

I don't know if it will do any good, but you might try using SRX to build a custom 1280 x 720 timing using the Generalized Timing Formula calculator that is built into SRX. Start up a new custom resolution and enter 1280 and 720 for Horizontal and Vertical active respectively and then click on "Use simplified settings:" and in the associated pop-up select GTF. Make sure the vertical scan rate is 50 Hz. If it isn't, type 50 into that box. H and V sync should have check marks in the boxes for positive. Save the timing and restart and then try it.

I don't know if that will work or not. I do notice that the horizontal front porch times in Descriptor #0 and #1 of the DDC data are inordinately long, which is unusual. But I have a hard time understanding how that would cause the top or bottom half of a screen to flicker, so the affect of the long H front porch is hard to relate to my proposal for a fix. Still, you might as well try. Good luck.
