The majority of sales are to windows users. The reviews are positive and it's here to stay. Sales estimates run up to 1.5 million units per year.

Digital media servers and content streamers yields some topics as well as this HTPC- Mac Chat forum.
I think that its time to clear things up. What do you think?

Just because it's "on track" to sell "1.5 million units per year" as reported by a third party site it should have it's own forum on AVS? Nothing to clear up about that, AVS doesn't need an Apple TV forum.

BTW, compare Apple TV to a Media Center Extender, not a Media Center PC. When you can use Apple TV without a PC/Mac on the other side, let me know.

Another BTW, There are over 10 million Xbox 360 Extenders out there currently. And, someone should also let the author of that article know that Vista (that OS that ships on 90% of PC's) includes Media Center in two SKU's (ships on most PC's, $600 and up).

What do you think?

Why the concern for clearing things up?

I think starting a thread like this is tedious, and it just invites the displaced Windows trolls back out of the woodwork yet again--to veer things yet again toward platform-battleground topics none of us want to take place within this forum.

Fact is there's a platform-agnostic server/streamer forum, and an aTV thread over there, on which mostly non-Mac home theater literate users are exploring things. That's fine. Historically that subforum has occasionally discussed Apple things like the Airport Express or Airtunes, albeit poorly. Read there, read here, post where you feel the most comfortable, and where you feel the most knowledgeable and helpful users are. If you're mainly interested in Windows and Linux-related hacks, best to post over there. End of story.

There's zero need for a separate aTV forum, nor any compelling reasons for this thread to "explore" the issue.

As Chefklc has already pointed out, there is already a forum for this subject. And before things get any worse, I'm closing this thread.
