I am not sure about the Visio, but we have the Phillips 21:9 TVs in retail stores here in AU.

Now Oct:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/v...a-plus-and-ul/
which makes much more $en$e.
Doesn't do much for those of us waiting for reviews or even seeing it; let alone buying one!

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

This is no doubt premature, but is there any speculation on whether this Vizio would accept a native 2560x1080 signal from a PC? I know that the Philips 21:9 TV will not, which completely eliminates any usefulness for me.

This might be worth a trip back to Aussie HiFi and do some testing.

And BPP moved up this way as well. They had been set up for over 3 months and none of the locals even knew they were there. Nice store, shame no CIH. I got them to install a Scope screen for our forum GTG, but they don't yet have an A-Lens or their own.

And I seem to remember what seemed to be an uncertain time for 16:9 too. People don't like change.

So is this dead or what?? Vizio has promotional material over at their website and the set looks ready to go-- it isn't much of a stretch to imagine this coming out as Phillips brought out a similar product in Europe last year or the year before. I thought this was a good idea then and I think it's a good idea now!

Now if only Panasonic would make a plasma in this aspect...

This just re-enforces why I'm happy I went with projection w. masking for movies. This TV creates as many problems as it fixes (given ARs are all over the place).

I've forgotten what black-bars even look like. smile.gif
