Hi Guys,

I was wondering for feedback on where fellow Australians got their 2.35 or 2.4:1 screens. We seem to have very little range and pay a lot more than the USA.

I bought a DIY AT screen from SeymourAV. Very reasonably priced.

Other choice is oztheatre screens.

After those 2 options the price goes up quite a bit.

Thanks mate.

What do you mean DIY? They send you the parts and you assemble it yourself?

Pretty much. They sell the material and the velvet. You build the frame.

Oz Theatre screens is the way to go (IMHO).

There are other options, like LP Morgan, Screen Technics and the global brands like Stewart, SMX etc.

Depends on your budget, but bang for your buck, I don't think you could go past one of OZ Theatre's screens.

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks Guys,

I had a look at the majestic evo 3d. It has a 1.26 gain. Is there a risk of hot spotting with that level of gain?

Nup, not at all.
I have the Evo3D fabric and a JVC HD750, and there's no hotspotting whatsoever.

Whereabouts are you located?

Cheers,

Chris

I'm up in eastern burbs - Chirnside Park.
If you're up my way, you're more than welcome to drop in and see for yourself what the Evo3D is like.
I think I'm a batchelor this weekend, so any night is fine if you're interested.

Cheers,

Chris

Cheers Chris,

That would be fantastic. Would Saturday suit?

Thanks,

David.

Sure, no problem.
Just be aware my room's not light controlled though, so depending on the time you come, you won't see it at its best. I'll be available during the day or night.

Shoot me a PM with your details, and I'll reply with the same.

Cheers,

Chris

Big thanks to Chris who demoed his awesome setup for me. Having seen the Oz Theatre screen in action I can say there was no hot spotting and the image looked amazing. I will be getting one for sure.

No problem at all mate!
Next, you'll have to save up for a masking system!

Cheers,

Chris

I have a Screen Research 120" AT 2.35 screen, that I imported from the US. With the Australian dollar at parity, I wouldn't rule this out. Unless you plan on moving house every couple of years, your screen is unlikely to be on your upgrade path. A good quality screen makes a heck of a difference.

Depending on your wallet, a more budget conscious and very well regarded screen, is made by Carada. You can pick up a 120" 2.35 screen for USD$815 plus shipping or a fully masked system for under $5k!

I'm in Point Cook Melbourne, drop me a PM if you want more details.

Cheers,

Chris
