Need some advice. I am looking into getting a bigger screen for my place. My throw distance will be 17.5ft. I am looking into getting a screen between 140-160in wide. I think 140in might be best, but would love to go bigger of course. Also, with be using a HP screen to help with 3D brightness on my Benq W7000. Wanted to know, what's the cheapest A-Lens that will work for me. The one I found to be the cheapest was the Panamorph UH480, I read the UH380 has too many issues.

Also, say if I get a 140in cinemascope screen, do I use the 16:9 size, which will be 61 by 106 to get the sqft to get the ftL with an A-Lens?

Use the 16:9 width to calculate your throw, and the full 2.35 area for foot Lambert calcs.

Dear Sir: Do not bother to buy an anamorphic lens, does not matter what type. The BenQ W7000 will not go to "Letterbox" setting (Setting that is needed for an anamorphic lens to be use) while playing a 3D movie. I have this projector and I installed my anamorphic lens with it. As long is playing a 2D movie, the "Letterbox " works perfect, but when is reproducing a 3D movie, it will not work at all, making the anamorphic lens useless. I had to uninstall the lens and use the projector zooming to fill my 2.35 screen when a 3D panavision movie is projected. Had to close the zoom for a 1.85 3D movie. There is no setting in the menu of the projector to fix this, neither is mentioned in the instruction manual in the CD that comes with the projector. they just say is "Panamorph capable and that is all.

It is a shame BenQ missed this point in their design. I was going to upgrade my own W6000 to a W7000 and then discovered it won't scale for CIH in 3D.

Don't the Oppo BDP 93/95 players do this or is it only in 2D? Failing that you need to step up to a Lumagen Mini3D I guess. I suppose they're just trying to keep the price down by not adding niche features that only a few users would benefit from. frown.gif

With the Oppo player, it depends on the BD disc whether it will do the vertical stretch or not. If the disc has Java, then it won't do the stretch.

Ah of course...vaguely remember that now. I can't watch 3D (major headaches) so never paid enough attention to the threads I guess. It's cheaper for me though. smile.gif

I don't think it has much to do with cost and more to do with a communication failure.
