Is there anything that needs to be done when projecting movies that were originally shot in 70mm through an anmorphic lens, like "Lawerence Of Arabia" and "Chitty,Chitty,Bang,Bang" to preserve the original aspect ratio of the theatrical presentation ?

I am using the Prismasonic HD5000M with the Themscene HD80 and a 90inch wide Screenresearch Acoustcally Transparent 2:40 screeen.

If you apply the standard 2.35:1 scaling, you'll crop a little bit of picture off both the top and bottom of the 2.20:1 frame. Depending on the movie, this may or may not be notceable. (Some 70mm movies were composed with some leeway in this area, because the filmmakers knew that the 35mm theatrical prints would be cropped to 2.35:1.)

If you want the height of the image to fill the screen properly, with small pillarbox bars on the sides of the image, a video processor such as those from the Radiance series will allow you to zoom out a couple of steps.

The last I checked, DVDO video processors did not have sufficient aspect ratio controls to accomplish this.
