Epson HC 3000 for CIH

I'm wondering if anyone has used the Epson HC 3000 for a CIH setup?

I have a 15x15 room, and my plan is a 120 or 135 inch 16x9 screen, and I want to mask off the top of of the screen to make a 2.4:1 area on the bottom. Then I'll zoom in and out to maintain image height in that area, but when I want a really big 16x9 picture (like for IMAX, superbowl, or one of those movies like Interstellar that switches aspect ratio), I can remove the mask.

What do you all think of this plan, and will the Epson 3000 do the trick?
