I started out with a beat up Dynamo cabinet and ended up with what you see here. The front end is Maximus Arcade. One button starts the entire machine. All I need now are a couple of stools. Any questions just ask.
When I first started I was dead set against using an LCD monitor. I was planning on using a CRT arcade monitor. But then Street Fighter IV for the PC was announced and I knew that I had to have a monitor that would do SFIV justice. So I went with the Samsung 26" T260 LCD monitor mounted behind some solar gray glass. I have to say that it looks outstanding. For MAME games, I'm using the triad3 and triad6 effects listed here with excellent results: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/inde...8667#msg858667.
For joysticks I'm using Ultrastik 360's from Ultimarc. The good thing about the Ultrastik's is that they are programmable for different joystick mappings. This means I could get by with just two sticks instead of having separate 4-way and 8-way joysticks.
The cabinet is just an old beat-up Dynamo cabinet that I got for $100. I stripped it, fixed corners and bad spots with bondo, repainted it, and put on new t-molding. I also had to modify it to mount the Mameroom.com control panel.
The total price was probably somewhere close to $2000.
