I am looking for a brand of popcorn/oil that tastes as close as possible to the movie theater popcorn. I just got a Great Northern 8oz popcorn maker for my theater room and have no idea what brand corn/oil to buy.
Also, are there any popping techniques I should employ while making the popcorn?
I also have GN 8oz popper. We use the great northern packs (4oz and 8oz) purchased through Amazon. 4oz packs used just for the family, 8oz packs when we are entertaining.
I use extra virgin coconut oil & Flavacol seasoning salt. I've tried at least a dozen different popcorn kernels & don't think they matter as much as the oil. I typically use Snappy popcorn.
For technique, I put the oil in the kettle with 3 popcorn kernals & heat until they pop. Then I add the popcorn & seasoning. Another tip is to keep the door open to allow the steam to escape to help keep the popcorn from getting chewy from too much moisture.
For me personally, I just try and focus on the butter to get a movie theater like flavor.
