It's currently $638.90 for "Like-new" over at Amazon. I'd prefer to buy from OneCall since it comes with everything since there's a chance that the receiver from Amazon will not come complete and may just arrive in a brown paper box and not properly packed.

HDTV: Panasonic TC-P50ST50
Speakers: Bowers & Wilkins 685
Receiver: Sony STR-DA80ES
Blu-ray Player: Playstation 3
Power Center: Monster HDP 1800

I recently saw one delivered from Amazon (like new) that was literally smashed in the front and rear. The faceplate door couldn't open and the speaker terminals were pointing in all directions. Shipped in a box about four times larger than the (bare) receiver without any padding. Throw in a warranty and at times I think we sweat too much trying to save a few dollars... myself included. Pulling the trigger and moving on is worth a few bucks... smile.gif

It's really not worth saving $50 to get one that could be in bad shape and you might not get everything with it. One call shipped mine in the original box with packing around it, inside another cardboard box and that was for new. I still think you're better off with one call @ $700

Well I bought two TX-NR818, one Used-Liked New for $565 shipped from warehouse deals, that receiver was for me, and then one Open Box for $699 shipped from Onecall.

First, the one from the Warehouse Deals:

- When it arrive it doesn´t turn on, since I´m in Colombia it´s impossible to return it, the shipping is more expensive than the receiver itself so I have it fixed like for $80, then talked to Amazon and they refund me $250 so I don´t care it being fixed
- It was in the original box but didn´t have all the original packaging, so it was damaged during shipping because of the poor packaging
- The receiver had the HDMI inputs labeled, so who knows for how much it was used

The One from Onecall:

- Perfect, not even Open Box, it was in it´s original packaging, other people said they can´t sell that at receiver at such low price as new so they put Open Box when it isn´t

So at the current price of the used-Like New I wouldn´t hesitate and will buy from Onecall, so I´m happy because I get that receiver at a very good price and also is my friend here en Colombia smile.gif

FWIW, I bought a like-new from Amazon Warehouse Deals last year for $617. Came in the original box with everything and arrived in perfect condition. So obviously, it's something of a crap shoot. If you're in the US, however, you can return problematic items to Amazon at no charge to you, so it may be worth the shot.

Newegg has the 818 for $799. With a 30% off coupon for the next 72 hours, it brings it down to $560, brand new.

Here:

The code works for me(unfortunately already bought a receiver last week, and have owned the 818 for a while too). Don't know if the coupon works for you, if your email is not tied in with the promo list.

If you click on Latest Email Deals (top of Newegg website) and scroll through it, do you see the 30% off link?

Just talked to Newegg. They said your email has to be on the list to receive the deal. Frustrating.

I think the email is misleading. It says "for 72 hrs" in big bold letters. Then in tiny letters it says "or based on fund availability". First, what does "fund" mean? If it said "inventory availability" it would make sense. Two, when I see that I have 72hrs I fully expect to have 72hrs. I've spent a lot of money at Newegg and think they should take that into account. Missing this deal is very upsetting!

Being long time a Newegg customer, I'm pretty sure they'll put it back on sale again in a few days, that's they're business model. You need to sign up for the newsletter email alerts. If I was on the market for this, I'd be hoping for a crazy pre-Memorial day blowout from them.

You'd need to be signed up for newsletter email alerts AND you have to be lucky to be part of the pre-selected group that will receive the discount.
Hoping for a pre-Memorial day special!

Newegg has the 818 open box for 599. I called and was told it could be refurb or open box and that they couldn't guarantee it would come with any of the original equipment. that doesn't sound like a deal sounds like a risk unless someone has that 30% coupon then its a helluva deal.

Does anyone know if they truly do or don't give warranty on open box stuff? Or if everything would be included?

I can´t say on receivers but I bought Open box motherboards from them and some didn´t came with the I/O shield a part that is important, at least to me

So maybe on receivers you can risk they don´t come with the calibration mic or something important
