Well I know they run a pre-auth to see if there are funds, but they don't actually charge the card until it ships and their site says that orders take 24-48 hours for processing.

I have ordered a lot of things from newegg. And on average it took 4-5 business days for the money to be taken from my account. But it's probably different for others.

The thread is about a great deal on a very nice subwoofer, comparable to many $500 models. The next level up would probably start at $700.

Low-brow, perhaps, but not low-fi.

I hope you have a way of trying everything out right away. Would be a bummer to discover a problem three months from now.

Well, the Denon was submerged along with the RC-10'sand RC-LCR and to my great surprise after drying out and getting hooked up for a trial all were operational.

I might only get 5 minutes or 5 years of use out of these.

I don't need to hook up the new RC-70's right away as I'm sure that these will be fine.

Hehe, yup. Still new in their boxes. I have a set of Paradigms in 5.1 setup right now. Didn't see the need to bust out the big dogs in the family room. I should have opened em up but there was always something else. Time keeps on slippin....

Bought one of these over the weekend through Newegg, supposed to arrive today. There was a code for an additional $20 off the $299 sale price. Mine came to $292 shipped because I opted for 3 day shipping and rush processing.

Can't wait. biggrin.gif

I own this sub and it did arrive with a loose bass port. I thought I reseated it well but did not open it up and add more glue as suggested here. In any case, I've been very happy with the sub but have experienced an issue when it was very active. For example, it did not sound good in Star Wars when the Death Star exploded -- the best way I can describe it was a vibration. I've heard the same problem once or twice with other movies. Could that be a result of the bass port still being loose?

First, make sure it's the sub. This problem has come up before and it turned out to be the wall behind the sub!

Thanks, I hadn't considered the wall, but I really doubt that's the issue because I had a Velodyne sub in that same spot for a couple of years and the bass was always clean. I wish I knew how to better describe the sound I hear, but I am almost certain it's coming from the Klipsch. I will give the audio test a shot and see if I can learn more from it.

It could be the grille too. Try taking it off.

You gotta hot-glue that tube into place.

I don't know if this sub will really, really, really, wink.gif be discontinued biggrin.gif NewEgg and Klipsch have a master plan tongue.gif

Here's a link that is almost a year old. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1375790/klipsch-rw-12d-question/30

Here's how to repair the port if you don't want to send it back.

Un-screw the screws holding the woofer in place. Make sure you don't puncher the woofer cone. Pay attention to the wires + and - terminals when getting the woofer out.
When I repaired the port/baffle on my sub I used Clear Perma Poxy. It set's in 5-min and cures in about 3-hours. About 8.00 bucks for it.
Take some of the 2-part Poxy and mix it together. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS when using the POXY and don't get it on your hands.
Apply it around the bottom of the baffle where it connects and or joins and hold it in place for a few mins.
Don't worry about trying to get it all the way around where it connects as you will not be able to reach the very bottom. I used a plastic butter knife to spread it.
It will not come loose again once the POXY dries.
Good Luck

Can you explain how I know if the port tube is loose? I think mine may have come loose but I dunno. I don't see any woofer damage but my sub doesn't sound as good anymore.

And what exactly am I looking for that would be loose? Just a brief description of some sorts Im a noobie. My sub is at school and I'm doing an overall of everything in my system. Replacing my broken tweeters, fixing my wiring, adding in an amp, new receiver, actually setting up audessy this time, etc. and this is on my list of things to fix up.

See the bare wire in that gap. That gap should not be there.

Yes. That is the port tube. It can only go on one way.

I removed my crossover panel and reseated it. I used some simple duct tape as an interference fit around the tube mount and used more around where it seals to the port itself. Worked well. I couldn't find my hot glue gun. smile.gif

I was able to reach my arm all the way to the back of the port tube and then guide it back into it's slot. It seated fairly firmly. Didn't bother with glue and while I imagine it could rattle at high volumes it hasn't caused me any problems. If it ever became an issue I would pull the driver and glue it, but it really doesn't seem necessary at this point.

I have the same issue and have not been able to fix it. The slight vibrating rattle only happens during a certain frequency. If I push the port tube to the left or right it's gone until the next day. The sub has done it upstairs and downstairs. I have taken the driver out and pulled on the port tube but it is not loose. To this day it is a mastery to me.

Yup. This describes the problem I'm having. It's the reason I'm looking at the HSU VTF15H. I HATE not having good bass and the fact that I'm getting rattling right now pisses me off. Go big or go home though is my thought. If I can't fix this rattling, I plan to order that sub within the year.

I have not experienced that problem in the sub. Somewhere in the affordable sub threads it was mentioned that the cover pegs/ holes will sometimes rattle a bit, also check your sub's feet for tightness. I have been using the Disney Wow disc for calibration and it has test tones to help find vibrations in your room and equipment maybe something like that would help isolate where the problem is? I had rattles from a cabinet door and pretty bad in the interior grade door to the store room. Kind of like tracking down which smoke detector is beeping it is a bit of a hunt. Still convinced this is the best sub for under $600 and fairly mid level for $700 most of us (including me) bought it for 300. I am super happy with mine. If we were going to spend $900 on a sub-woofer then we wouldn't be in this thread.
