That is the equivalent of the SC-1222, not the 1522, BTW.

But it's still $50 less than it had been before.

And, confirmed by Pioneer, Elite units sold by newegg have NO Pioneer warranty coverage.

3 year extended warranty is only $54 from newegg. How many units have you had break during the warranty period? It never happened to me.

Thanks.

Check with your home/renters insurance company. We pay a very very small amount for 2500.00 worth of electronics coverage with NO deductible. That includes cell phones, iPads, AVR, projectors, flat screens, computers, etc, etc..........

I'm pretty sure that's for loss; I don't think it covers breakage/failure.

There's a 2-year plan for $30:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16885855177

Plus 1% back from Ebates.com.

Decisions, decisions.

Our policy covers 'breakage'. Just got a 350.00 check to repair the LAN port in my laptop that stopped working.

Left my iPhone on the back of the trailer a few months back, it fell of and chipped the screen.... 100% paid to have it repaired.

I'm a home owner, with Ameriprise through Costco.

Liberty Mutual. No type of this coverage at all.

So if anything breaks, you'll have to come by and steal it.

I'll call you.

If it breaks, how hard would it be to have one of your kids mysterously lose said item?

I considered getting a another pre- out capable amp but for $599 o would rather buy the Emotiva UMC-200. I own Few Pioneer's including the 1222-k (basically same as sc-63 with a couple extra connects for older equip. I also own the UMC-200 and I love both but prefer the UMC-200 for the money. It is just awesome for 6 bills. And the warranty is 5 years. It's a no brainer for me. Also the UMC takes up way less space at under 3" high and ~12 pounds. The UMC -200 is just on a higher level. You just need an amp bc it doesn't provide any power where the pioneers do.

So that's the only MINOR difference?

Lol...that's like saying my sc-1522 makes a great home theater, except it doesn't display a picture. However, I don't know how you can effectively compare a pre-amp with 4hdmi with a full fledged avr with 7 HDMI ports where both cost the same price.

I still feel fortunate enough to have been able to get the sc-1522 new for $600.

Yeah it's not a minor difference in that regard but most users who are venturing into high end AVR 's probably own an amp as well. Sure there are users who see no need for an amp. I was one of them for over 15 years but once I started buying separates there was NO going back for me.
I still love my 1222-k and have it hooked up to my Master Bedroom Surround Sound setup with a 60" Panny ST60. I'm using a 7 channel Sherbourn amp and Deninitive Technology speakers. I love my Pioneer receivers and swore by them for a long long time. However there is no going back for me now. The UMC-200 like anything else does have its shortcomings but the line level pre-out voltage and sound quality is just superior to the Pioneer. They are both great products especially at $599 whether it is the 1222-k, 1522-k, or SC-63 from newegg but for my $599 I'm buying another UMC-200 since I have extra amps. If you do not have an amp then sure the Pioneer all day long. You can also get the Yamaha -1020 Aventage for good prices now too. Last I looked you can get the Yamaha for ~$600 to $649 and the Yamaha has 2 year warranty and much much better customer support. Pioneer's customer support blows the big one. They suck so bad. Especially if you get a girl named Louanne! She is of no help at all and has an attitude to boot!

I have amps that weigh over a 100# so its also nice to not have a 35# receiver in my rack as well.

IMO, if you have a nice amp the UMC -200 has nicer overall sound appeal to me. For $599 it is really good quality. I have 3 surround sound rooms and not any of them use more then 3 HDMI ports. Cable, bluray, & Apple TV's in and out to TV. Leaves 2 extra HDMi ports on the UMC. Splitters are inexpensive if someone needed one. Certainly not a reason to choose one pre-amp over another. Plus the Emotiva has 5 year warranty. Pioneer has shortest warranty out of all the major brands coming in at a year. If I remember correctly the Elites have 2 years. But hey for thousands of dollars they better!
I do like the sound of the Texas instrument processor in the Pioneer's. They have a really nice sound as well.

I was able to score SC-68 for $600 from Magnolia by showing this deal to them. Even though Costco in my state doesn't have any left but Magnolia offered me similar specs SC-68 which I happily bought home. So far loving the extra bells and whistles.

Looks like you got a 1222, which is 7.2. This thread is about the 1522, which is 9.2.
