+1 If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe that JD sells gray market stuff and those other guys do. I got a better deal from JD than I see listed on that rythercamera site anyway.

As of today (12/9) Accessories for less has the factory refurb x4000 for $799.99.  I know nothing about the company.  I just saw that ad and this post and thought I'd share.

Not yet done with the process of escalation, but Amazon is giving me the run around on the promotional credit. It doesn't help that the link now says expired Dec 02 yet the link was valid on Dec 03 when I purchased. Ugh!

When I purchased it on the 2nd it clearly stated that the $400.00 promotional credit was only valid if bought on Dec 2. I received my $400.00 credit 3 days ago in my e-mail. Problem is I'm still not sure I want the Denon  AVR-X4000. It's sitting in my computer room still sealed in the shipping box it came in. I have not touched it. I sold my Yamaha RX-A820 to my brother so I am in limbo right now. I really would prefer a NAD 758 or Cambridge Azur 551 but hard to find a good deal on either of these receivers. The Denon may go back. I have some time to think about it as Amazon extended the return window because of the holidays.

If that is the case, then return it and buy it from JD. That way you can still get your money's worth. Amazon's deal is kinda shady IMO. "we will give you 400 dollars back, but you have to spend it at amazon instead of putting it in your bank account".

You are crazy lol. Buying a receiver and not knowing if you even want it. Good for you if you have the funds to do that.

Maybe you should keep it. It is a good avr after all.

I couldn't find a date anywhere on the 1-2-3 promotion page linked in the original post, it only said quantities limited so I had no way to know it was not valid. I have a print out confirming that.

Glad you got your credit.

Bought it on impulse because of the $400.00 kick back and everyone keeps talking about how good Audyssey XT32 is. I buy a lot on Amazon so the $400.00 credit is as good as cash to me. As for the Denon AVR-X4000, it may be a good receiver but I most likely wouldn't use most of what it has to offer. So I bought it knowing I had some time to think about it thru the holidays while I search for a good price on the NAD or Cambridge. If I could find the NAD or Cambridge for the same price or less i would take it in a heart beat!  If I don't, then I will most likely unbox the Denon and give it a try.

You probably will lose the 400 dollar credit then. Maybe you should use the credit and then try to return the avr lol. I do not think that will work lmao.

Glad you got your credit.

As far as I remember, I read that the promotion was valid until midnight PST. But the link was active until afternoon next day.

No, what happens is if you send it back they only credit your account minus the promotional amount so you will have to spend the $400.00 with Amazon no matter what. Which is find with me since I buy a lot on there anyway. I just listed The X4000 in the classifieds here to see if someone wants a great deal on it before I do just that!  $950.00!

Merry Christmas!

Not this particular receiver but the 4520. Why are you asking?

Have been going back and forth btwn the x4000 and the pioneer sc-72, but if I can get a deal on the Denon I would definitely go with it. Seems I' m always late to find these deals, since this post was from 3 weeks ago!

I been looking at this Denon for my next AVR upgrade. What is it about the NAD that you prefer over this? I think the price is pretty good considering that it resembles the 4311 which is about 500 more. Especially if you ever think about getting an additional sub you can EQ each one individually. This make a world of difference since most AVRs have a simple splitter for this. If you don't care about this and about some of the other features like airplay you may just be looking for something with more robust amps. In that case it seems logical but the 4000 does have pre-outs if that's your thinking.

I went with the NAD because of simplicity, clean looks, power ratings of there amps, able to customize up to 5 presets and it has everything I needed in a AVR without having to many bells and whistles. I have owned nothing but Yamaha AVR's (3 of them with the last one being a RX-A820 so i really wanted to try a NAD out. You are correct. I am not interested in Airplay, connecting the AVR to the internet, adding another subwoofer to EQ separately and I am not sold on Audyssey yet. I don't believe you must have Audyssey to have a good sounding system. I have been playing around with the NAD now for the last few weeks and so far I am very impressed with it . I am sure the Denon X4000 is a great AVR for the right person.
