You can call them up and find out if they have refurb unit. I got mine refurbished 103d by just calling them up...and infact the unit I got was practically brand new.

It depends - are you using it to only watch disks or for other things? Players do a lot of other things very well besides playing shiny disks. Oppo also get a 10 for customer support.

Yep, he said he thought it was a "high end" player.
He even saved the remote.
I was/am ecstatic. :-)

Something to keep in mind if 4k/60fps is in your future ... the 103D is firmware upgradeable to pass 4k/60fps while the 103 is not as it uses a different video chip.

^ Careful there. None of the current OPPO players will play 4K discs, when and if the standards for those are finally determined. WHATEVER they decide to standardize on will require new hardware.

The OPPO 10x players can *UPSCALE* non-4K content to 4K output. Current HDMI hardware limits that to 4K/24 or 4K/25 for film/rate (movie) content. The 103 and 105 limit video-rate content to 4K/30.

The 103D and 105D relax that a little, allowing 4K/50 or 4K/60 output of video rate content. But ONLY in the YCbCr 4:2:0 Color Space -- which requires a 4K Display that implements that new format (part of the HDMI 2.0 spec).

The alternative is just sending 1080p (or whatever) and letting your 4K Display do its own upscaling of that to 4K.

FYI, excuse me if mentioned before but the bdp 103d refurb can also be had from oppo...$485 plus shipping, came to a buck or 2 over$500, full 2yr warranty. I just called and asked and they said they happen to have a couple. haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it was packaged well and it sure looks great.
