Some stores are selected for renovation via some manner of magical corporate metrics (e.g. consistently hitting budgets, being in high-traffic areas or areas having a higher concentration of wealth). BB is trying to build out an increased number of these locations but the strategy is a "hub-and-spoke" style -- e.g. there's one Design Center location in the general area of a lot of other stores (stores with non-Design Center Magnolias and regular Best Buy stores); these stores can refer clients to that MDC location for product and service above and beyond what they can offer from their own assortment. The product carried by a design center location can't be special ordered through a regular best buy store or register.
