I think I may have received the last HC3000U at the $1449 price. I ordered it last Tuesday from ProjectorUSA and received it Friday. Great machine.

Any more deals on the HD72 since missed out on the Overstock deal? Trying to keep my cost as close to $1,000 as possible but of course hoping for the best PJ for that deal.

Just so you know, there's some question as to whether or not they're really an authorized dealer, as they don't appear on either list of Mits' authorized online dealers, although they do display the seal.. let's keep researching this.

Ok another update - neither of the 2 lists of authorized online dealers (see thread linked below) has allprojectors.com on their site. Checking some sites that ARE on the list (such as projectorUSA.com) they have it for $995 but clearly stipulate the rebate won't work, so the chances of it working from allprojectors - MOD seal or not - are slim to none, imho. But it is $928.

I picked up an HD70 at the local Best Buy today along with a DirecTV HD DVR. The HD70 was only $799 because I also took the DVR (an upgrade to my existing DirecTV system). Total out the door including tax was under $1200.

I tried to also use the 12% off coupon (expires 11/20) but they refused. Still not a bad deal.

Well when I wrote to projectorplace (an authorized Mits dealer found on both lists on their website) I got this email regarding the HD1000u:

"Our best price is $895 plus $20 shipping. In inventory.

The free lamp has been discontinued as of 11/20 and not avialable on the projectors with the new price drop. Give me a call if you have any questions. 800 528 3611."

Pretty killer deal, imho. I've got a lead on a HD70 for $950 shipped (not a deal I can share, just a one-off deal for me) so for $35 more that's probably what I'm going to stick with, but holy cow this is a good time to be buying projectors!

I have not seen either the hd1000u or the hd 70 in action but I would put my money on the Mits. The one thread here in the forum says the Mits is almost as good as the hc 3000,plus the Mits has a glass lense where as the hd 70 is plastic.
I own the Mits hc900 and it still puts out an amazing picture.I would bet better than the hd70.

As noted elsewhere, Sanyo Z4 (last's years tie for top LCD in budget segment) w/ lamp and screen. Absolutely kiler deal, esp if a 92" screen works for you. Only good another 2-3 days. Link!

it's a refurbished deal, but infocus has the SP5000 (LCD) for $650.00 - maybe not the best option, but by far the cheapest i've seen.

happy hunting!

Hey thanks that's not a bad deal. Not sure I'd say by FAR depending on how you calculate things, I'm inching towards the Z4 deal, and here's what I'm thinking:

$1180 shipped (no tax for me)
. 80 92" screen
. 300 spare lamp (this is the real value, retail is $400, can't find less than $300)
$ 800 for an extremely sharp, full-featured 720P LCD that was $400 more a month ago.

I've read that it's not so bright, I have a 96" silver screen, so I think I might end up using it on high power mode (or not economy, whatever it's called) and not stress about it because of the spare lamp, we'll see once it's home. Wow sounds like I almost decided. What will I do once I've actually chosen my upgrade for the next 2-3 years....

I just rec'd an e-mail ad (thru Home Theater Mag e-mail ist) for Mitsubishi's. I don't think the prices are amazingly lower than what has been seen before, but it's a nice summary of Mitsu-approved prices available from authorized dealers:
HD1000U - $995 (one of the links was to Amazon w/free shipping)
HD3000U - $1695
HD4000U - $1995
HC5000(BL) - 1080p - $4495

BTW, I've already purchased the Optoma HD70, but would consider the HD1000U a strong competitor. HD70 was right for me b/c it has full scaling for 2.35:1, even on HDMI input.

Thanks Mike that's helpful. You can get the HD1000u from spinitar for $890 shipped (tax in CA I guess) if you call 'em. That pretty much concludes the best value PJ discussion for me, but I'm still waiting for the head to head HD1000u vs HD70 showdown, no one's had them in the same room yet as far as I know...

Thought this was a good thread and was hoping to keep it alive. Bestpricecamera.com has some ridiculous prices on PJs, e.g. the Panny AX100 for 1,319. Shipping is pricey and I can not attest to their reputation although I did PM with a member who ordered from them and PJ came as advertised. It was the Panny AE-1000 which was listed at $2,764 although it has since gone up by some 1,000 on the site. There are a few 720s at great prices, the IN76 at 1,699 also comes to mind.

Good New Year to all,

Dino in NYC

Any more word on the AX-100?

Seem like prices are holding at 1900ish less the rebate.

I have also been looking at the Epson TW-700 from HK... but I really like the way the Panny pairs with an anamorphic lens and the fact the different levels of brightness/lamp modes are much more flexible...

Any word guys?

Give me some good news please.... I hear that photo place is ******** at the 1300.00 price. If i'm not mistaken there is feed back out there backing up my assumption.

So where are all the cheap AX-100's? March maybe...
