Andrew Jones, Director of Loudspeaker Engineering at Pioneer Electronics and TAD Laboratories, talks about Pioneer's new "speakerbar," the SP-SB23W, including the basic design philosophy behind it, details about the drivers, the RF-molded MDF and wood laminated enclosure, the use of active DSP-based crossovers and EQ, the included wireless powered subwoofer, how he got the main drivers to go down to 110 Hz, why he decided on a 2.1 configuration with no simulated surround, the decisions he had to make so that the retail price for the system would be $400, answers to chat-room questions, and more.

Scott,

Thanks for doing such a great job with HTG. I just started listening to it about 4 months ago as I never got much into the whole podcast thing...however, my new cell phone automatically keeps the most recent three on my phone when I am home connected to wifi which is then transfered to my work computer to listen to as I get my stuff done.

I truely enjoy it and have found myself listening to some episodes more than once.

Trying to enjoy the simple things in life.

Scott,

Would like to know if analogue signals is fed via the RCA connection, would the speaker bar convert to the digital domain so the DSP can do its work (i.e. equalization, filtering to the tweeter, mid range and bass drivers) then covert back to analogue again? I'm thinking it must and how well does this double conversion is.

Not sure how the speaker bar switches between the analogue and digital inputs.

Would have liked another digital input such as coax.
