Master acoustician Anthony Grimani provides a great introduction to small-room acoustics with lots of visual illustrations, including direct versus reflected sound, room modes, different types of acoustic treatments such as absorbers, diffusers, and bass traps, where to put acoustic treatments, a minimal "first-aid" treatment to improve the sound of a room, the best shape and dimensions for a listening room, odd-shaped rooms, electronic room correction, answers to chat-room questions, and more.
I really enjoyed this interview as I am in the middle of installing fiberglass acoustic treatments in my theater room. I have read about a lot of the techniques discussed but there were some great nuggets of information during the interview.
I enjoyed the technical aspects of the interview as well. Thanks again. Here's a pic of my room. The black on the walls are all acoustic treatments and I am still playing around with the position and debating on adding more to get to the 20% surface area number.
What about a room with very little reverb echo during slap back test?. Still worth putting sound panels in a room?. Btw,awesome episode!. Can't wait for part 2 ;)

Thanks for the compliment on my theater room. I agree that diffusers are the next step and have been researching this week. They are all fairly hideous looking so today I bought some speaker cloth with the thought of covering them to increase the WAF.
Great presentation, thank you! However, can't find what Anthony mentioned as the '5.1 Audio Tool Kit', when I looked on the MSR web site. Only found some old info at at this Facebook link dated back in 2011. No other info found via a Google search. How do I purchase this MSR product?
If you're interested in purchasing the '5.1 Audio Tool Kit for Calibration' from MSR that Anthony Grimani mentioned during his presentation, here is the contact info you'll need, as this product does not appear on the MSR web site. Contact Ingrid directly by phone or e-mail...
Nice talking to you yesterday. The 5.1 Audio Tool Kit for Calibration is $49 + tax + shipping. It isn't for sale directly through our web site, that is the reason why you weren't able to find it. I've attached a credit card authorization form for you to fill out.
