Which is best for taking measurement of 4K HDR displays, Chromapure or Chromapure 3? Or does it matter?

Only CP3 supports HDR and 2020.

Hi,

I have an i1D3 pro with Chromapure V2.

I've recently purchased a LG OLED but do not have that mode to select when begining calibration.

What would be the best mode to select from what is available?

LG LED LCD?....Generic LCD maybe?

Perhaps its just time to update the meter and software.

Hi,

If you install the latest ChromaPure 2.x, you will see the OLED table, because it's something X-Rite added to their SDK's to operate the meter which coming with any CP installation.

i1Display PRO is using spectral calibration architecture which makes the meter field upgradeable to support future display technologies.

These available spectral characterization options are stored inside X-Rite's SDK (Software Development Kit) files using X-Rite’s EDR file format. New display technologies can be added with a newer release of X-Rite's SDK to software developers which can include the new display type selections to their future software releases.

So installing the latest CP 2.x you will see that option, but the problem is that the spectral correction for OLED of X-Rite i1Display PRO is not good for LG OLED's.

X-Rite used a Sony PVM-2541 RGB OLED Monitor to create the OLED spectral correction (at 1 nm internals using a Konica-Minolta CS-1000 spectroradiometer) for i1Display PRO which can be useful when you will measure the Sony or FSI (Flanders Scientific Inc.) RGB OLED Broadcasting Monitors and not a consumer LG WRGB OLED or the following brands which are using LG's WRGB OLED panel also: Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Loewe, Philips, Skyworth, Metz, Grundig, Vestel, Arçelik and Bang & Olufsen.

If you have a Display 3 PRO, the only reason you are not seeing an OLED mode is that your license and its corrections were created before the OLED correction was available. You can send us your meter and we can add the OLED option for $50. Or, we can recalibrate the meter completely with all of the new corrections for $175. None of the older corrections really fit the OLED mode.

Ted, we don't use X-Rite's EDR format for our corrections. We do this using our own proprietary approach, and we use an LG OLED for the OLED mode.

Hi Tom, I was talking about a normal i1Display PRO instrument, not for the enhanced by you meters which feature additional offset tables (not EDR).
